Hey Overwatch players - listen up
when someone chooses an off-meta hero like Junkrat or Widow/Hanzo? when someone chooses to be a hero that you guys think aren’t that useful or great like Sombra?
you have no idea whether or not the person is extremely good at that hero and you have no right to throw competitive games and make them lose their rank
all because you’re too immature to try to work around it
they pick Junkrat at the start? instead of thinking ‘oh my God imma throw because i have lost all hope - Junkrat’s a terrible pick’, why not try thinking ‘hmm well Junkrat doesn’t consistently deal a lot of damage/kills but i’m going to give this person a chance and see if they’re doing good at him’
i’ve been in too many games where i’ve had duo snipers or a Sombra or a Junkrat or just a low damage team and we had been carried because of those players playing the off-meta heroes
i’ve been saved by off-meta hero players before and i’ve also been up against a team full of off-meta heroes! e-e if the player is good at them and it’s working, let them play - give them a chance since you have no idea if they’re good at that hero or not
as for when it doesn’t work or they get countered hard? politely ask them if they can change; it’s not that hard
as an example, today in competitive i was playing Ana and this Junkrat was on my team - they were getting countered hard by Pharah and D.Va so i asked ‘junk can you please change?’ and guess what?
surprise, surprise!! they changed??? i was expecting them to argue or throw a tantrum but they quietly changed to D.Va???? and it worked! like holy shit it was working i mean,, but thanks to one guy who was fucking sour over the initial hero pick and wasn’t doing anything for the team - we fucking lost owo
if we had that one guy to stop being bitter about hero choices and actually help, we would’ve won. but nah, immaturity got the best of them and we all lost SR ovo and that poor player lost their plat rank
so word of advice for those who’re scrolling through this rant and wanna see the end point: tl;dr: don’t be a fucking asshole you piece of shit. use common sense and ask politely if your teammate can change like a good parent would’ve fucking taught you when you were young
