Hi, I'm using your extension on firefox (it's really nice to be able to save the fics I actually like rather than going through my 300+ pages of AO3 history) but I can't figure out how to sort by fandoms, or at least show the fandoms next to the stories... Please help ?

You’re not alone with that problem! Unfortunately sorting/displaying fandom is not a feature yet. I will add it as soon as I have the time, which might be a month or two, depends how busy my Real Life Pays Money™ job keeps me.

I mean let’s be real, it’s partly delayed by how much fanfiction I read too :)

Does AO3rdr not save filtered tags in backup file? The one you manually save from 'Download your data'?

It should, though it’s entirely possible there’s a bug. I have some spare time this weekend- I can check into that. Are you on the chrome or firefox version?

hey! about your ao3 extension, i was wondering if there is/will be an option to change whether or not a fic is marked as read? (i.e. you open/scroll through a fic but don't actually read it and want it to be listed as unread) thanks!

When you create a bookmark (eg add a star rating) it automatically marks the chapter you’re on. Example: if you’re on chapter 2 and add a rating for the first time, it sets that as the chapter (as indicated by the book icon being open or closed).

If you’re in the “browse works” page, there is no book icon, and instead it will be set to chapter “0″ (technically, you don’t really see any UI change for this, it only makes a difference for 1 chapter works).

To reset your view to any of the chapters, click on the book icon when you’re on the chapter you want to reset it to. For one chapter fics, there’s not really any equivalent of saying you didn’t actually read the one chapter, sorry about that!

It’s not a bad idea for a feature for the “bookmarks” page… could be an additional action for the edit dropdown.

tl;dr: click the open book icon on any chapter’s page to move the “read” marker to that chapter.

Hey, I sent an ask in a while ago about Ao3RDR neglecting to collapse works on tag landing pages (the URL without /works on the end, for non-canonical tags); unfortunately, it looks like an update at some point made it so that works now get collapsed on those pages, which is super inconvenient for me. Is there a setting I can change to make it not do that?

There absolutely should be, but it looks like I introduced a bug. I will add that into the queue for fixing. (It’s under the settings page there is a checkbox labeled “enable”- unchecking it should disable the blacklisting).

Small AO3rdr question: has sorting been disabled or is it Chrome mucking with me? I'm using version 1.2.1 of the extension and I think it's been this way for a while?

Ahhh, hmm. I thought I fixed that bug- will have to go check it out. I’m pretty stressed with work lately, so I’m not sure how quickly I can get to it, but I’ll keep you posted when a fix comes out (worst case I’ll have some time in 2 weeks).

hi!! regarding ao3rdr, is there any way to block specific authors?

Great question! No, there is currently not a way to block authors. My main focus was to block based on content, what’s in a fic, rather than people-based blocking.

However, I totally understand wanting to avoid people. The tech world is pretty awful at recognizing the valid need to avoid certain individuals in the online world.

Would any other user care to chime in on this topic? Implementation of such a feature would be fairly easy, but that also brings up the question, do you want such a thing for the comments section? My (perhaps naive) assumption about AO3 was that it was a pretty safe online community with little harassment & good moderation, and such a thing would not be necessary. But! I really do want to make things that help users, and if a user-based blocking system is what people want I am happy to oblige.

Thanks you so much for ao3rdr. You may have prevented mass murder. I've never been happier to have installed any extension in my live, with the possible exception of tumblr savior.

is there a way to delete a bookmark on ao3rdr?

There is now! Due to popular demand, I’ve released a “delete” feature for chrome. I have uploaded to to the chrome store and am waiting for it to finish processing now. ETA ~ 60 minutes.

Firefox will have to wait for a while. I am in the middle of a serious re-write for it, and will be unable to add more features until that is complete.
