Ever since I was literally a child I've wanted to use the Age of Mythology scenario editor to do a Tolkien thing. Problem is, "wage foreign wars of conquest until you paint the map one color" is kind of antithetical to like the whole ethos so anything even remotely canonical would require just Oh So Much scripting and I hate scripting.
But then the other day I realized: The antithesis is exactly where the story is hiding.
So I'm currently hard at work on The War of My Ring, a singleplayer 1v8 AoM scenario exploring the misadventures of Lord Mairon the Totally Awesome as he attempts to recover his lawful property from some mean guys who just won't stop bullying him for no reason, no reason at all. And on his birthday no less.
