Greek Exam: D-44

Working on Aorist and Imperfect today (Ch 7 in Black's). I was looking at the chapters ahead and we are going to run straight in to Participles and Aorist middle/passive voice so I HAVE to know what's going on 🙁📚.

Mini-rant: I HATE THE WORDS THAT TEXTBOOK WRITERS USE TO DESCRIBE GRAMMAR IT IS CONFUSING AND POINTLESS AND OFTEN JUST PLAIN UNHELPFUL LIKE UGH - there must be a better way to teach what a participle is (because Black's 14-page explanation is crap).

Greek Exam: D-53

I did what I said I'd do - added imperfect forms to (some) of my vocab cards. I also tried to differentiate between Aorist 1st, Aorist 2nd and Imperfect using three kinds of green pen... But I don't think I was consistent enough, so that idea didn't work out so well.

Here's a fun fact: imperfect isn't just "I was learning" and "I was seeing" and "I was baptising", but has FOUR OTHER translations: began, kept, tried, used to.

E.g. Luke 23:34 ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἔλεγεν· is often translated as And Jesus kept saying... to emphasise the repetitiveness of the action. But EXCUSE ME WHO DECIDED THIS? It could be one of the other options: "Jesus kept saying/began to say/used to say/was saying/tried to say

Just sayin'.

Greek Exam: D-55

I'm a bit behind with revision - I was supposed to have become familiar with Aorist 1st and 2nd forms AND Imperfect forms... But I only managed to get Aorist 1sts into my head.

Looking forward to having these cards filled with both Aorist and Imperfect forms by close of business tomorrow. (What a way to spend a Saturday, hey?)
