It's fun looking at my books side by side because I can see the contrast between my protagonists, their skills, and the books' genre.

The Gunslinger (ABYSS) and the Warlock (TTFOD) are classic dark fantasy MCs. They're skilled in combat, clever, and stubborn enough to survive. Sure they encounter eldritch monsters, but they *can* point a gun or a blade at them and even wound The Horrors.

The Time-Traveler (GOR) makes the genre veer into science-fantasy because of his time-travel device and his relationship to his magic. On paper, he's extremely powerful, but he also has 0 combat experience and deals with things 'out of this world', so even if he had a gun, it wouldn't help.

The Detective (CHD) is not even a real detective. No magic, no weapons, no divine intervention. This book is horror first, speculative second. Good luck, detective :)

Just -- the sheer pain of hearing "I'm sure another agent will feel differently!" over and over and over and over and over and over again.

When my last requests and queries come back, I'm going to take a break (from querying, not from writing. Writing is actually fun.). Querying is awful and feels awful and four years of "I hope you find the right champion for your project!" is really starting to weigh on me.

I hate feeling like this but the industry currently seems impossible to break into unless you fit the trends.

There is something so very funny to me about Youtube recommending me a song called "Amaranthine" by the band "Amaranthe" starting with the lyrics "Time is the reason why we fight to stay alive"

While I'm editing a book about time-travel and a character named Amaranthe (the name was not an intentional reference to the band, but it does in fact reference a lyric from a symphonic metal song lmao)
