Fresh from their appearance at T In The Park’s T Break tent, Glaswegian duo Apache Darling release new single ‘Firebird’ that sounds as mystical as the name suggests.

Accompanied by a wonderfully psychedelic video, ‘Firebird’ is sprawling dark pop dotted with spaced-out glitches and sci-fi synths floating across a smoky, gauzy dreamscape. Its rumbling bassline proves rather menacing, but the booming chorus soon turns the track into something uplifting, trying to make it out alive in a bad situation but still clinging onto hope no matter what. The kind of soundtrack you can imagine in a Sega game or sci-fi drama...

APACHE DARLING – ‘FIREBIRD’

‘FIREBIRD’, the new single by Glasgow boy-girl duo APACHE DARLING, pulses along through a familiar shadowy synth atmosphere and is peppered with some catchy melodies, but the production just isn’t as good as it could/should be.

For example the instruments at the start sound too harsh and one dimensional, and they just don’t provide a nice sounding backdrop for vocals, which do have potential.
