aaaahhhh Thank you so much! I lucked out that my roommates made a grocery run right as I was setting up so I didn’t have to deal with weird looks of me posing shirtless on the back deck!

newsies - 29. Favorite backstory headcanon? this is mostly movie!verse, but also applies to the musical. i love thinking about how each newsie got their name. some of them are fairly straight-forward (snitch and specs, for example), but bumlets? mush? also why is jake pretty much the only one with a normal name? idk what i find more amusing, that being a random name he got stuck with or if it’s his actual name and no one could think of a newsie name for him

Moving air tossed his bangs, waking him. For a moment, he didn’t feel like death. He breathed in. Foggy. Confused. Blessedly cool. The end was not coming to smother him in moist, heavy blankets. He took another breath of sweet, fresh air just as the fan swung past.

And the heat pressed back in. 

Ugh. 

Somewhere outside a song started up. Something poppy and light, singing about summer feeling and nightly romances filtered in through the open window. Way too much percussion. A bit more synth maybe. The beat was familiar though. He was sure he knew it. But the effort to pick his head off the cool floor and allow both his ears a chance? Not worth it.

Fingertips twitched against his side. Michiru sighed under the fan’s heavenly focus. The world recentered into the apartment. When had she…? He tried to remember. He cracked an eye. She dozed next to him. If he were any more awake, maybe he’d have something to say about her on the floor with him. Something witty, something lewd. Instead he waited. Waited for that faithful low hum to echo her own blissful sigh under the fan’s fawning. 

Nothing. Just her. 

He settled, wiggling under her fingertips until he could reach a hand over her shoulder. Skin burned on skin until it didn’t. The floor gnawed into his hip, his elbow, his chin. 

Screw it. 

The song beat on through the window. The fan swung back his way. He was here now, he figured. 

Let the heat melt them both
