I'm kinda new to the fandom and you seem to rec fics that I don't see around a lot. Any older SC fics I should look up?

Well I dunno how much I can vouch for my taste but SC fics I really like that are more than a few years old:

Where Lamps Go to Die by WastedOn - Kara pretends to be in a relationship with Supergirl and Lena gets jealous (probably my absolute favorite SC fic. One of the first I read and genuinely a lot of fun)

lena dies on a wednesday by @karalovesallthegirls - Lena is trapped in a loop, reliving the day she dies over and over again. She just doesn’t know it. (I think this was one of the first SC fics I ever read? absolutely fantastic)

in the shadow of that green light also by @karalovesallthegirls - Kara wakes from an accident with no memory and a mysterious caretaker who creates more questions than she answers. (I'm not normally one for horror but this is SO good and makes me want to rattle the bars of my enclosure it's so good)

1,370,911 by @pippytmi - Soulmate AND Singer/Songwriter AU (I reread this on the regular you don't understand the grip it has on me)

We Deserve Only Good Things by @thornedrose44 - Kara and Lena are working through how to be friends again and an alien has them meet the younger versions of each other (yeah this one wrecks me in the best ways honestly)

quiet when i'm coming home (i'm on my way) by @valkyrieskwad - Kara's a retired smoke jumper and has to figure out life afterwards (Kara learns how to fucking heal and I'm in love with this honestly)

and of course I gotta plug @i-am-robie's you're gunna find yourself someway, somehow - Morning Glory AU aka one of my favorite Kara fics ever

And then of course I gotta plug my own work.

These are only a small handful of course. This fandom is so talented there's so many good one's to choose! So like just go through my bookmarks and have a good time. Don't forget to leave comments!!!

If a screenwriter and a director came up to you and said "Rocket, we have seen the light, Katie McGraff is the hotness, you're clearly the man with the plan, please help us come up with a movie or TV show that best shows off her talents as the leading lady," what would your top 3 pitches be? Knowing you have complete creative control of The Thing.

First of all I want you to know that "Katie McGrath is the hotness" might just become my tag for her because I love that phrase SO very dearly.

SECONDLY WHAT A GOOD QUESTION. I feel like I'm going to do a mix of both what I would like to see her in and also what I feel like (from the little of what I understand) her genre preferences are:

PROJECT NUMBER ONE: You know initially I was going to say "Some sort of dark fantasy and/or period piece" but then I remembered that I can just fulfill all of our wildest dreams and do a mini-series (because fuck multiple movies this is a pro "the importance of letting stories breathe" blog) of The Priory of the Orange Tree and casting her as Sabran. She's the right age, the perfect look AND all of our favorite things of looking gay and stern in a period/fantasy dress!!! (I'd have to think more on the rest of the cast but I'm up to the challenge and would devote a substantial amount of the budget to costume design)

PROJECT NUMBER TWO: A contemporary paranormal/supernatural thriller maybe a la Midnight Mass or Bly Manor or maybe Crimson Peak? (haven't actually seen any of these cause I'm a weenie but that's the kind of vibes I want) and make her a vampire. Or a ghost actually I think that could be a lot of fun. If we're going Midnight Mass/Mike Flanagan then Rahul Kohli's there because I want to see what sort of chemistry they can actually work with that's not 12 minutes on a CW show. I want it to hurt and I want her to have fun running around screaming maybe! Or biting people! Or both!!

PROJECT NUMBER THREE: some sort of historical documentary. Get her a cozy sweater, get her in a castle or some old ass building somewhere and let her just Go. Put a jaunty little soundtrack over it and boom instant hit.

You know I haven't yet! My old roommate took his Disney+ subscription with him when he moved out a couple months ago and I just haven't gotten around to jolly roger-ing it yet. I'll admit it hasn't been super high on my list cause while I really liked WandaVision I haven't been all that eager to jump at Marvel's stuff as of late. It does seem like a fun time so I'll maybe watch it over Christmas while I'm at my parents house. Should I make it a priority? Rio does sorta seem to fit my bill of snarky lady I would like to be mean to me...

quite honestly is the kinkest filth I've ever written because unfortunately I had a conversation with a friend about how the supers are aliens and well. it hasn't left me alone for about 2+ years now.

But it has made me do a bunch of research and dare I say world building and trying to figure out what's sexy and what's science and what's sexy science which. As far as writing exercises go is pretty fun not gunna lie

I'll put the snippet/more discussion under a cut to save at least a little face even though there's nothing explicit in this snip

“It’s a dual process - Kryptonians are made to both deliver and receive. The difference in sexes is just…. How many a body can handle at one time.” “How many??” “Well actually - ok.” Kara pauses to close her eyes. Her eyebrows scrunch together in a lopsided way. Lena’s seen this look many times before - usually relating to work or Kara doing something complicated in the cape. But as Kara begins muttering under her breath in her mother tongue, Lena realizes it’s her look of translating something. Something probably rather complex. “When you do math, how often you have to remember to simplify it?” “Literally all the time.” Kara’s answer comes too quickly to be anything but the truth and the pink that dusts her cheeks a moment after simply confirms it. It’s fun, still discovering the vast complexity that is Kara Zor-El.

The idea honestly is to have two chapters: one to do the talking and character exploration, one to do the filth. We'll see if it ever actually sees the light of day but at the moment it is about 2k long which. Is setting up to be one of the longest things I've ever written outside of a school paper.

Also in case it's not obvious I'll just put myself on blast and say that it's straight up "what happens if Kryptonians lay eggs with their partners" and then I looked up how exactly Seahorses do the do and well. Here we are.

"would you fuck your clone" = boring, who cares, the answer says nothing about you other than whether or not you're your own type

"would you fuck MY clone" = unexpected, high potential to cause a lot of 'why would you fuck my clone and not me?' drama, reasonable question to ask if you're a mad scientist

Listen I am VERY bad at remembering fics that I've read that I haven't bookmarked (which are a lot unfortunately) but off the top of my head in no particular order there's:

a forgone conclusion by @searidings (wonderful piece of RD learning what's in a name and what it means to love)

the where the heart moves the stone series by @jazzfordshire (which I'm not kidding made me bounce in my chair in little goblin glee. (Less "why would you fuck my clone" and more "our clones are fucking and we have to cope"))

Broken Snowbird by @inkedroplets (I oddly enough have memory of this fic but ao3 says I didn't leave kudos which only happens if I didn't read/finish but I trust both this author and my memory of it being Good Shit)

Rocket bro I am so SO sorry for this but. You are so strongly associated with werewolves to me that I read "I will admit, I do tend to reach for romance if I'm in a rut" and my brain took it the wrong way before I could stop myself. LOL

I saw this while hanging out with my friends this weekend and I need you to know that I laughed so hard they made me explain basically my entire blog to them. So now I feel entitled to do this
