What book needs to be a movie: Actually you know what? I would really like to see Mexican Gothic as a movie. I think that could be a lot of fun. Small cast, big haunted house and some potential fun CGI stuff at the end. Call up Mr. Del Toro I think I've got a story for him.

Give a recommendation: Jay, my friend, my comrade, I really want you specifically to read Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey because I feel like you probably would really like it but I could be totally projecting here. But anyways, mildly supernatural coming of age boxing story but it's so much more than boxing??? I dunno how to describe it other than that. And then the second book is just "but what if they were body guards" and it's even more fun and silly but you just gotta read Santa Olivia if you haven't already.

Oh and The Wager by David Grann if you haven't! Non-fiction that reads like fiction about a shipwreck. I did the audiobook for that one too and it was absolutely fantastic. I hear the physical book reads really well too!

Not quite canon, but. He’s got flesh-eating pixies. In the herbaceous border. To eat unwanted guests. Which, presumably, means he had to sit down with everybody and draw up a contract vis a vis who’s eatable and who’s not.
