Last two days, I've had the chance to catch #TeamSG athletes participate in their respective games at Kuala Lumpur. It was inspiring to see how hard our athletes fought for our country, and how they channelled their passion on the sporting field. In the build up to the Games, our athletes spent countless hours training for their sports and I know they have all grown from their experiences. Currently, Singapore's medal tally stands at 9 🥇Golds, 17 🥈Silvers and 24🥉Bronze. My thanks to our Singapore contingent for doing your best and flying our flag 🇸🇬 high at the Games. Our para swimmers have done well so far, winning 4 🥇gold, 7 🥈silver, and 3 🥉bronze medals. I also had the opportunity to catch Bryan Seow at the 50M Backstroke Men's S14 Finals this afternoon as he put up a good swim in his event. Was glad to see the big turnout of Singapore supporters at the National Aquatic Centre too! Thank you for rallying behind our athletes. This being the 5th day of the 9th ASEAN Para Games, Singapore's medal tally currently stands at 8 🥇gold, 16 🥈silver, and 20🥉bronze medals. I had a chance to witness some of our athletes in action today, and I'm heartened in seeing how hard they fought through their competitions. In the evening, I visited the Dining Hall for the athletes, and had the chance to speak to the Singapore 🇸🇬 contingent. I was glad to see them in good spirits. Thank you to each and every one of you for your contributions, and for doing our nation proud. It was inspiring to see #TeamSG shuttler Wei Ming give his all at the Semi Finals of the Men's Badminton Singles. On top of displaying good technical ability, his grit and determination shone through. Speaking to the para 🏸 Badminton team, I could clearly sense their enthusiasm for the Games and their passion for the sport. It's the first day of the 9th ASEAN Para Games and I'm delighted to hear that our athletes have already broken new ground! Debutant Tan Hun Boon clinched para cycling's first ever medal by taking home the bronze 🥉 in the Men's Kilometer (C1, C2, C3) event, kickstarting Singapore's APG medal haul. Emily Lee and (pilot) Sarah Tan also added a silver 🥈 and bronze 🥉in the Women's and Sprint (B) and Kilometer (B) Cycling events; while Jessen Ng and (pilot) Calvin Sim attained two bronze 🥉medals in the Men's edition.
