I thought about Dragons again and doodled Dragon AU Jan as a result

Anyway! Time for mun to provide some ever relevant context for everything that happened here! (under the cut of course, bc this might get long!

First off, Gilbert got his ass kicked. I think that’s obvious. By whom, though, I’ll leave up to yall to figure out.

Next, I just wanted to reiterate that Ivan is a blind bat and uses extremely sensitive hearing+echolocation to “see” his surroundings, which is why he was able to hear the fight happening and then find the aftermath.

More about Ivan- he uses magic to manipulate his wing size to fit his situation, hence the wonky sizes throughout the comic.

One more thing about Ivan- he is one of the dragons that uses powerful magic, and you can see one of his own special spells demonstrated above: the ability to turn fire to ribbons, at least for a few moments. 

Okay, now a little bit more about Gil here-

the fire coming from his throat was blue because it was burning almost pure methane, which is Gil’s choice in flammable gasses to aid in his fire breathing. I’ll do a more in depth explanation of why certain dragons use certain gasses, and how fire breathing works to begin with, at another time.

Regarding the last statement, however, Gilbert eventually would have literally exploded due to a loss of pressure and invading flame to the interior of his body (the dragon that kicked his ass did this on purpose, btw).

I’m sure yall noticed that Gil’s wings seemed to be on fire at least a little bit, ruining them. The material and oils that coat a dragon’s wings are supposed to prevent the tissues from burning, but when exposed to very high temperatures over a certain period of time, the wings will smolder and eventually burn slowly away.
