Primary Work VI

The book does not have a happy ending. Perry’s brother Jed watched his wife die in his in his arms while he tried to save her. It gives Perry perspective of his own life and how he plays a role in his community and his family. It addresses the fact that family can disappear in the blink of an eye. Perry considers this while he recollects the impact he makes for the people around him, not just his family, but anyone who needs him.

Primary Work V

In another section of chapter thirteen Perry describes the similarities he shares with his brothers, most notably their patience with marriage. Perry and his brothers were never concerned with starting a family and only ever wanted to take their time. Perry even starts to question the importance of marriage and why his business is so important to other people.

Reading Chapters 5-7 Primary Work II

Diving right in the book Perry talks about his relationship with his brothers on the volunteer fire fighter department. “I would avinge my brothers in blood if necessary. But we are stoic, and we like it that way, which seems to drive more demonstrative people batty. We are accused of repressing our emotions. In fact I like my emotions contained” (76.) Perry’s feelings towards his brothers are mutual between his brothers and a lot of guys who don’t like to get emotional every day, it is easy to relate to and not at all another one of THOSE books>

Primary 3

A final reason I chose this book was because I can relate to it. Being as how I am a minority, I can understand the importance that every decision you make can have. For other with far worse situations, who may grow up in impoverished parts of cites, those decisions shape families for generations. This is primarily because of their environments (alienation ). While people of color make up about 30 percent of the United States’ population, they account for 60 percent of those imprisoned. This is a startling statistic that is all too real for a majority of the minorities in America.

Change of plans

Previously i had chosen the book Anneville: a memoir of the Great Depression, but i changed my book a few weeks ago and just have not had the change to blog about my new finding, “Brain on Fire”. After i knew Anneville wasnt going to work i didnt know how i was going to find another book in time, but Mrs. Write recommended this book to me. As i was reading up on it, it seemed to me as if Susannah Cahalan was being alienated based on her illnesses and i correlated it to the Alienation because of Gender, Race, Class, or Creed abstract topic because of this.

Primary 2

Since the purpose of my text is to inform me about a story in which a conflict exists because the will of the majority opposes the will of an individual in America, I chose “The Other Wes Moore” by Wes Moore himself, which will give me perspective on the issue of “Alienation because of Gender, Race, Class, or Creed”.This book has multiple points of view of a situation that is all too real for minorities in America. As a result showing how one decision can lead to a series of decision that can and will fundamentally change your life.

Primary 1

I chose "The Other Wes Moore" by Wes Moore because I feel that this book will show what alienation based on race can do to the quality of one's life. This book tells the story of two men who have the exact same name, are of the same race, and were born only blocks from each other, but went on to lead very different life styles. One became a Rhode scholar and decorated veteran, the other became a criminal who's action eventually caught up with him, landing him in jail. I believe that this book will help me develop a well informed and educated research paper because it shows both sides of lives that are lead by minority men, one of which happens to be extremely stereotypical.

Etched in Sand

It took me a while to find an intriguing book that I would want to read. I Google searched for non-fiction books to specific non-fiction categories like family relationships or hopefulness. Until I finally came across “Etched In Sand” by Regina Calcaterra. I decided on this book because it told the story from the point of view of foster kids and I have a personal connection with kids in the foster system. I volunteer with foster kids and it’s crazy the backgrounds they’ve come from and the experiences they’ve been through, resulting in my decision.
