For anyone interested here’s my portable emergency bag
I have an actual go bag with the whole shabang in my room but this is just the one that I keep in my backpack or purse wherever I go.
Here’s the first aid bit. It’s in an old gum container. There are alcohol pads, itch pads, antiseptic pads, a few bandaids for smaller wounds, pantiliners for anything larger, chapstick, safety pins, hair ties, breath drops, and a needle, thread and a stitch puller. The breath drops may seem odd but I personally can not stand my breath smelling or tasting bad (hence all the gum containers) and it’s also mostly alcohol which kills germs and protects your teeth.
The next bit is kinda miscellaneous. I have my spare glasses, some lotion, Vaseline, hand sanitizer, sunblock, a sharpie and Orajel. The Orajel May seem odd but I think tooth care is the most overlooked part of survival.
Next I have about eight dollars in coins. The reason for this is that in a survival situation paper money won’t last long but coins are still metal which has value even if the monetary system crashes.
Finally, I have this little bit of candy. It’s not going to last a full 78 hours which is what you are aiming for with go bags, but it’s something at least and candy is fairly high in calories and fat which your body can use, as opposed to protein that if unused for muscle building will just exit your body. Plus, chocolate is just a good pick me up. Survival situations are draining physically and emotionally and sometimes a little treat is all you need to keep pushing on.
There you go! I put it all in this little bag and I’m done. I’m not allowed to carry weapons like knives or matches to school with me so I don’t have anything in the way of defense but I guess I could always find a large stick!
