   *      she   didn’t   seem   like   the   rest   of  them   .   standing   in   the   near   empty   parking  lot   ,   waiting   for   the   molasses   slow   exchange   to   finally   conclude   ,   eric   found   himself   in   the   middle   of   an   accidental   staring   contest   ,   eyes   locked   with   the   brunette   . 

  *   he   would   smile   ,   a   small   movement   he   wasn’t   completley   comfortable   with   considering   the   current   situation   ,   but   it   was   something   ,   more   for   his   benefit   than   hers   .

A   SCARLET   PUDDLE   slowly   pooled   on   the   table   beneath   his   arm   ,   liquid   border   creating   an   abstract   formation   which   seemed   to   directly   mirror   the   gash   on   his   forearm   .   short   but   deep   ,   a   curved   opening   resembling   a   question   mark  .              

 ━━ & ❛   is   there   any   way   to   fix   it   with   ...   staples   or   something   ?    i’d   really   like   to   move   this   along   as   quickly   as   possible   .   ❜

“Hey, hey, slow down there Gem.” The older man reassured his former coworker--whom he had discovered earlier out cold, which he promptly blamed on exhaustion given her condition at the time. “Don’t sit up too fast, you’re gonna make yourself pass out again and I rather you stay awake this time.” It would allow him to further assess her injuries, if she had any that he didn’t pick up from earlier. 

“Come on now Gem, look at me.” He took his penlight to briefly shine them in her eyes to gauge their reaction speed. “What do you remember last?” Reunion can happen after he finds out if his friend needs any imminent treatment.

“Woah woah woah there, don’t you throw accusations of threats around like nothing there okay” He held his hands up mockingly as he spoke. “I’m not threatening you” The corner of his lips pushing up into a smile. “I’m just saying if you don’t come through with your side of the bargin, I will kill you”
