Once the RIF app shuts down tomorrow I will probably be done using reddit on my phone forever.
It's so bittersweet to lose such a huge part of the content I consume online, but I'm hoping to replace that mindless scrolling on reddit with mindless scrolling over here on tumblr.
I hope everyone who loses their reddit apps tomorrow is able to find a new space that makes them happy.
So Apollo is dead now. I guess I’m gonna move to full time tumblr doomscrolling now.
Reddit just went down in Dumpster Fire history
The "AMA" this morning (which actually was held in r/Reddit??) was nothing but a corporate disaster. Steve Huffman, aka /spɛz/ just really told an entire community of communities that he was quite happy ignoring their very reasonable concerns and gaslit us with the confidence and ease of a real life super villain. He diminished, lied to us and about us, and made the Digg exodus look like child's play. I had 3 accounts this morning and as of now, none of them exist any longer.
You were a good app, Apollo, and you have good company in my app graveyard.
I’ve had this blog/account for years, but never really used it. Now that the Apollo app has shut down, where am I gonna get a good collection of US political news on my phone? And other news? Is tumblr good for that? Someone guide me 🥺
I feel so lost on my phone now.
no more reddit... sealed away forever...
Some home screen updates.
I removed my banking apps, and the Apple Support app from the home screen and replaced them with FaceTime, Apollo, and Discord, I also reorganized some of the widget stacks on the first app page and added some shortcuts I use regularly.
All three of the widget stacks have at least 7 widgets in them that have useful info, and the section above the large widget on the second app page is a two line app suggestion section that surfaces which apps it thinks I might want to use at the moment.
Also, isn’t it crazy that I basically need to post a video to explain how my home screen works 😂
Also, Control Center and Dark Mode
