Quick update and news

Hi folks, I’m so sorry for not getting a 15th Tag out today and for not writing out some kind of prior warning! Y’know, on top of not being active these last few months! The tag will resume next month with a festive theme of some sort.

Although my focus has been elsewhere, I have read about Peter Jackson’s plan to film the Tintin sequel in 2019 off various sources these last few weeks. The Prisoners of the Sun adaptation still seems to be on the cards despite what Jackson was saying about choosing a different story. I’m remaining cautiously optimistic until we have a confirmed press release of some sort.

I’ve also read about a new French publication, Les femmes dans le monde de Tintin / Women in the world of Tintin. It’s written by Renaud Nattiez, who has also published 2 other books about the series, and analyses the women who inhabit the series’ canon and their real life counterparts who inspired Hergé. BDzoom have a review about it here and it’s certainly a book I wouldn’t mind picking up one day.

In other news, Tintin’s first home, Le Petit Vingtième was first published on the 1st November 1928 by right wing newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle. If it hadn’t ceased publication with LVS in May 1940 when the Germans began occupying Belgium, LPV might’ve celebrated its 90th anniversary this month.

Also, new Tintin homeware has reached digital shelves at official Tintin retailers (i.e. London’s Tintin Shop, Edinburgh’s Paper Tiger, online’s Tintin Boutique). Towels, bathrobes, single duvet sets, blankets and one or two t-shirts are now available for purchase. I’ll sneak the teal Snowy blanket on my Christmas list.

Guys, I'm sorry I haven't posted or responded to any of the meta floating around right now.  I got really sick on Monday and then on Wednesday flew to Miami, and I'm not really up to it.  But I'm super interested in how this whole thing is going to play out.  I saw someone suggest that Sam went back into his room at the end to start thinking really hard about how to do as Kevin says and confront Dean more firmly so that they can stop the dramatics and just work out their problems.  That gave me a new perspective and some hope.  I was reeling from the apparent dismissal of Sam's understandable reaction to Dean lately, and just saw this return to their rooms as an "artful" reset to the beginning of the episode.

What I would have liked better would have been a fake-out reset, where we, in reverse of the opening, watch Dean recline on his bed, put on his headphones, close his eyes -- we'd expect credits, that's the completed turn of the beginning to end reset.  But in the "fake out" reset, we'd cut, possibly during the traditional credits, to Sam's room, where we'd get some insight into what he's thinking right now.

Yeah, I read that post too, about how we do have some indication of what Sam's thinking, but I'd say we could get something that isn't just him looking sad or saying flat out these sort of vague things.  We could get him talking to someone about them, someone who doesn't already have a formed opinion.  Someone like Lindsey, maybe.

As for Sam getting more into the MoL thing, finding his place -- I don't know man.  He already thinks Dean thinks he's weak and not a reliable hunting partner.  "You can barely do it with me, you think I screw up everything I try; you think I need a chaperone."  I mean, I want him to feel like he has an option to do something he likes better, but just like Dean can research on his own with the best of them, Sam is a deadly hunter.  I'm not sure sitting him at a desk job is going to be great for his confidence.  At this point, I worry that he'd take on the job as the least he could do to continue to help the cause, the only choice he really has if he wants to stay helpful to Dean, find any worth in the job (because god knows he's been put off the "normal" life).  I don't want it to be his only choice.  I want him to choose it because he enjoys it, even though he's a great hunter.

I guess I wrote a bit afterall.  But look these are just impressions.  I seriously need to rewatch the episode because I was so friggin out of it on Tuesday I'm pretty sure I missed stuff.

Sorry about the lack of activity recently. I've been playing as normal, but haven't been keeping up with shenanigans in town or taking pictures. Once I get home from college this week, this should change. So sorry for the inactivity and thanks for sticking around!
