Tintin remembers what comes after 15.
On January 10th, 1929, the boy reporter’s first adventure was introduced in a Belgian newspaper’s supplement for children called “Le Petit Vingtième”. Since then, he’s been a dear part of many childhoods in many generations. Yet in all his 83 years, he’s only seemed to age 3 or 4 years.
Thank you Tintin, thank you Hergé for filling our lives with such grand adventures.
Happy holidays, fellow Tintin fans! I hope you’re all doing well and taking good care of yourselves during this time of year. Because I’m a shill, here is a festive themed fifth Tintin Tumblr Tag!
If you’ve never done this before, then please read the 3T Tintinifesto before sharing your answers!
#5 The Festive One
Question 1 - Do you have any holiday traditions involving The Adventures of Tintin? i.e. Tree decorations, film viewings, story readings etc.
Question 2 - Have you received anything Tintin-y as a present?
Question 3 - What gifts would you give Tintin, Snowy and the Captain?
Question 4 - Do you have any Tintin themed resolutions for the New Year?
Question 5 - You're spending a wintery day with the group when, OH NO, a snow storm traps you all inside Marlinspike Hall and you can’t leave until it ends the next morning. How do you spend your, SFW, time?
Please reblog the original post with your answers below and hashtag ‘Tintin Tumblr Tag’!
Thank you for joining in, have a lovely holiday and a great New Year! See you in January? Maybe? p.s. UK fans, the Spielberg film will be showing on Boxing Day from 7:45am on BBC2!
Quick update and news
Hi folks, I’m so sorry for not getting a 15th Tag out today and for not writing out some kind of prior warning! Y’know, on top of not being active these last few months! The tag will resume next month with a festive theme of some sort.
Although my focus has been elsewhere, I have read about Peter Jackson’s plan to film the Tintin sequel in 2019 off various sources these last few weeks. The Prisoners of the Sun adaptation still seems to be on the cards despite what Jackson was saying about choosing a different story. I’m remaining cautiously optimistic until we have a confirmed press release of some sort.
I’ve also read about a new French publication, Les femmes dans le monde de Tintin / Women in the world of Tintin. It’s written by Renaud Nattiez, who has also published 2 other books about the series, and analyses the women who inhabit the series’ canon and their real life counterparts who inspired Hergé. BDzoom have a review about it here and it’s certainly a book I wouldn’t mind picking up one day.
In other news, Tintin’s first home, Le Petit Vingtième was first published on the 1st November 1928 by right wing newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle. If it hadn’t ceased publication with LVS in May 1940 when the Germans began occupying Belgium, LPV might’ve celebrated its 90th anniversary this month.
Also, new Tintin homeware has reached digital shelves at official Tintin retailers (i.e. London’s Tintin Shop, Edinburgh’s Paper Tiger, online’s Tintin Boutique). Towels, bathrobes, single duvet sets, blankets and one or two t-shirts are now available for purchase. I’ll sneak the teal Snowy blanket on my Christmas list.
That’s all for now and thanks for bearing with me and my inactivity. I may well have missed some other news or anniversaries during my absence, so please feel free to comment or reblog with your own updates! It would be greatly appreciated!
Hergé and the creation of Tintin: a public lecture by Benoît Peeters, 15/10/18
Hello, fellow Tintin fans!
I said I would write up something about Benoît Peeters' lecture on one of my previous related posts so here it is! Click keep reading for the whole shebang!
Evening, fellow Tintin fans!
I'm in the auditorium awaiting Benoît Peeter's lecture at The Storey, Lancaster. Blackwell's, a notable bookshop chain here in England, has a small shop featuring select stories as well as Peeter's biography and Michael Farr's Tintin: The Complete Companion.
And, lemme tell ya, the adrenalin rush on being just metres away from Peeters is utterly ridiculous.
Welcome to the fourth Tintin Tumblr Tag!
Please read the 3T Tintinifesto before sharing your answers!
As you may tell from the crude image above (edited on my phone), we're doing scary themed questions this month. Nightmare fuel and horrifying implications, intentionally or unintentionally placed in the series by Hergé and so on.
#4 The October themed one
Question 1 - Which story do you consider to be the scariest in the series?
Question 2 - Which villain do you consider to be the most menacing? Adaptations included.
Question 3 - Has anything in the series ever given you nightmares?
Question 4 - Are there any horrifying implications you feel are overlooked or forgotten in the stories?
Question 5 - Share a cursed image from the series!
Please reblog the original post with your answers below and hashtag ‘Tintin Tumblr Tag’!
Thanks for joining in, sorry again for the silence and happy 15th/Halloween month!
Tintin remembers what comes after 15.
Afternoon, fellow Tintin fans!
Well, I'm en route now to Lancaster where Benoît Peeters will be holding his (sold out) lecture, Hergé and the creation of Tintin today on our monthly holiday!
Am I naive in hoping he'll sign my copy of his biography, Hergé - Son of Tintin? Maybe. Am I bonkers for travelling 4 hours just for an hour's lecture and a drinks reception? Yes. But it's worth it!
I will be back later with the usual 15th at 15:00 Tintin Tumblr Tag and a post either tonight or tomorrow to chat about the lecture.
Jean-Pierre Talbot, Georges Wilson & Milo Tintin et le Mystère de la Toison d'Or, Jean-Jacques Vierne (1961).
A big ol’ apologies to all non-Tumblr bots who follow me and/or my side blogs for my impromptu hiatus.
Daily dashboard checks and rare scheduled post/reblog aside, updating the Tumblrs has had to take a back seat. I’ve just been busy with real life stuff these last few weeks and needed a social media breather.
‘Normal service’ shall resume once I have myself re-organised. Do feel free to DM me here or on discord (same username) if anyone fancies a chat.
A public lecture to be given by Benoît Peeters, author of Hergé, Son of Tintin. A Life and Tintin and the World of Hergé. Benoit is Professor of Graphic Fiction and Comic Art at Lancaster. University Lecture followed by drinks reception
Hello, fellow Tintin fans!
The eminent Professor Benoît Peeters is giving a public lecture titled Hergé and the Creation of Tintin on October 15th at Lancaster University, England. It is slated to be an hour long, starting at 7:30pm and finishing at 8:30pm with a drinks reception. Tickets are free and available to book now on the Eventbrite link above.
You may know Peeters as one of the most highly regarded Tintinologists, authoring books such as Hergé - Son of Tintin (2002) and Le monde d'Hergé (1983). He’s currently the visiting professor at Lancaster University and is its first Professor of Graphic Fiction and Comic Art. I recommend reading this 2012 JHU Q&A with Peeters if you’d like to learn more about him and his response to the 2011 Spielberg feature film adaptation.
I’m looking to attend, perhaps cover the lecture for this blog and even get a few words with Peeters himself. Guess I better crack on with reading my recently delivered Hergé - Son of Tintin copy too.

Welcome to the third Tintin Tumblr Tag!
Please read the 3T Tintinifesto before sharing your answers! I was going to make this a ‘favourite character ‘tag but I thought, y’know, maybe gauging what Tintin fans actually think of our ginger bequiffed reporter would be more interesting?
#3 Tintin et toi (or, Tintin and you)
Question 1 - What did you think of Tintin when you were first introduced to him? Question 2 - Has your impression of Tintin changed much since? Question 3 - What makes him appealing to you? Question 4 - Has he ever said/done anything that you’ve disagreed with? Question 5 - If you were to theoretically meet Tintin, what would you ask him?
Please reblog the original post with your answers below and hashtag ‘Tintin Tumblr Tag’! Thanks for joining in!
i’m actually read Tin Tin’s Adventure and i’m in love with him… again, after all this years…
why are we not talking about Captain Haddock being all snarky
