A Batfamily au I've been working on

Nightwing becomes Slade's apprentice (Probly during the events of The Judas Contract). Jason, who was robin, has his same fate by the hands of the Joker. Later, getting revived by the Lazarus pit. Jason having amnesia sticks with the league and is an occasional Damian babysitter(basically the young justice cartoon version of him).

Nightwing sees Jason on occasion since he's no part of the league due to working for Slade, but he does work with them on occasion, which helps Jason get his memories back. Later on, Slade sets up a coup so Talia sends Jason and Damian with Dick joining them into running away.

They take a train, and once they make to Gotham, the three of them get into a fight going their separate ways. Night accidently meets Tim/Joker junoir, once they all reunite they bring Tim along to keep an eye since they don't know if they can trust him since he may or may not know Bruce is batman. But eventually, all four boys find their way back home.

"Can I join you" might be phrased as a question but it sure as hell isn't one. Slade doesn't ask. Dick still makes a show of saying yes and moving away from the center of the training area, leaving space for Slade to step in, and goes back to the still rings.

He's been doing light exercises, nothing too straining, but he's been at it for a while now. He isn't sure how long but his stomach is cramping because he has not eaten anything since waking up, and his body has tarted to strain, joints trembling while he holds himself horizontally above the floor.

"Next time you can't sleep just come sit in the control room" Slade says almost casually. Dick has been ignoring him — doing his best to ignore him, rather, looking in another direction and not even glancing at what the man has been doing. He does look now, in time to see him lower the barbell he was lifting down to the mat. "I won't be of much company while I'm working. But you don't fare well alone when you're upset, so as long as you keep quiet you'll be fine".

Dick grimaces and stops the exercise before dropping down face first out of exhaustion. He has no intention of going to Slade for comfort about anything, let alone after waking up from a nightmare which more often than not involves Slade himself.

It's not like he's going to be able to say no, anyway. And he's well aware that Slade will make it look like a concession, like a kind gesture he extended to the poor troubled kid waking up covered in sweat in the middle of the night.

"Damned if I do, damned if I don't" Dick mutters through his teeth while massaging his wrists. That pretty much recaps every aspect of his current predicament, ever since Slade got in his head that he wants to make Dick his apprentice. Whatever Slade actually means by that.

"Let's go get some breakfast, I'm sure you'll feel less dramatic with something warm in your belly."

Dick sighs quietly and steps out of the training room, trailing after him. He does not feel like eating, the ick he got from the nightmare that woke him up still clinging to his thoughts, and once again he could pin his feet and say no but there is no point to it. If Slade is in a good mood — which seems to be the case today — he'll leave him without food for the rest of the day. If he isn't — and he might very well not be, Dick is yet to learn what the very subtle changes in the man's normally stoic expression really mean at any given time — he'll beat him to a pulp and then also leave him without food for the rest of the day.

And Dick is doing his best to learn to pick his battles.

I love when renegade designs have a full faceplate mask rather than a domino, the domino is cool and works especially when its just dick and slade or younger dick/tt03 apprentice arc aged dick, or kidnapped pre-full brainwashing dick, but in situations where renagade is known or is regarded as one of the most deadliest mercenaries i love it more when he has a faceplate. Similar to slade's helmet but maybe not the full helmet around the whole head, just the front faceplate

A contract killer / Assassin working for Deathstroke. (The first Robin, leader of the Teen Titans.)

OOC / BG INFO:

This blog is for a self indulgent AU that mixes a few things together, mostly the Apprentice episodes from the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon, and the few issues of Nightwing (1996-2009) (specifically issues #112-#116) where Dick Grayson is training Rose Wilson under the name Renegade.

This AU focuses a lot on the abuse and manipulation between Dick's relationship with Slade, starting from when he becomes Slade's apprentice to try and save the Titans from being murdered at the age of 14. Afterwards he goes missing for months, and then years, finally being presumed dead by the public.

Around this same time Deathstroke takes on a new apprentice and later a sidekick by the name of Renegade. Dick lives with him and is being manipulated into murdering and hurting people by abusing and brainwashing him in many different forms, such as manipulation and physical punishment.

Right now, Dick is 23 and has been with Slade for 9 years, and was with Bruce for 6 years. His parents died and he was taken in by Bruce at the age of 8. Dick trusts Slade full heartedly, despite the abuse and the horrible things he's done, he will defend him as much as possible.

Dick only knows Bruce, Babs, and Alfred from the bats personally. Everyone else he has either never met or doesn't really know that well. Dick was declared dead, so the others mostly know Dick Grayson as the first dead Robin. Dick is not known as Renegade, and his identity is very well kept. Renegade has a similar reputation that Slade has.

Right now, Dick is currently living with Slade and Rose after Wintergreens death, after her adoptive parents are murdered by Wade DeFarge.

Dick was kidnapped a few weeks before Wintergreen is murdered by Joey. He is gone for around 2 months, being tortured and kept captive, before he runs back to Slade and finds that Slade has taken in Rose and turned her into Ravager as a replacement. Instead of being angry he's mostly resigned and tries to help Rose as much as possible.
