“The Most Dangerous Game”
The Guardian leaned against the tree to rest and catch his breath. He was certain he looked as sickly as he felt, but his stubbornness gave him the strength to press on despite all the loss and death and terror they had experienced in the last several months. A lesser man would have given in to the despair and torment that Gul’dan and the Fel Horde inflicted upon them all. He was no lesser man and neither was the younger wizard beside him, looking as terrified and worried as he.
Medivh tiredly glanced in Khadgar’s direction and took a deep breath before releasing it slowly, “How is your strength?” he inquired in a whisper, not because he feared being overheard but simply because he was tired. Tired of running, tired of hiding, tired of falling ill when they encountered Fel, and most of all, tired of the Fel trying to exert its control over him.
He could feel it seeping to the surface and closed his eyes, afraid that Khadgar might see the hellish glow in them. Medivh focused his will and energy on suppressing the corruption within and did not reopen them again until he was certain his gaze was his normal blue-green color.
A howl of a wolf bayed in the distance, signifying that the creature had picked up their scent again. “We must keep moving,” Medivh declared and forced himself to straighten from the tree. “The hunters will be upon us soon.”

Varian had just gotten out of a meeting with King Terenas and his generals, further discussing the war at hand. Many of the other Alliance nations seem to tire of the constant battle between them and the invader orcs. The glue that seemed to hold the nations together seemed to be faded away, but still Terenas comforted Varian that soon enough he would have a city to return to, and once again Stormwind would stand as the beacon it once was.
He left the meeting as soon as he could, wrapping around the corner to the main hall so he could return to his room, but a familiar face deterred him. “Khadgar! What brings you to Lordaeron? Looks like you’ve grown a few whiskers since the last time I saw you.”

Khadgar couldn’t help, but let out a low growl at the other ----- Khadgar might have been many things, but he was much more than an Apprentice... wasn’t he? Of course he was, Khadgar had to be, if he was to actually survive with Medivh, he had to be perfect, and that meant even giving up some freedoms.... most of the time at least.
“I really don’t like you, Khadgar. You do know that, right?”
“Leave me alone!”
“And why would I do that, boy?”

Medivh lifted the bound hand and inspected the shackle that tied his apprentice to him. “How is the arm, Young Trust?” The Magus side-glanced to the younger man for a brief moment before looking ahead again. Surrounding them were the large, green creatures that have been raiding out of the Black Morass, and although he had a vague memory of them, he knew little of these creatures.
The gryphons that had bore them to the area prior to their capture, had flown off in fright. He was grateful the graceful creatures had managed to escape alive. Their survival would mean he and Khadgar could escape later once they managed to get away from their captors.
Provided these green men didn’t murder them once they reached wherever they were going.

"I think the monster in my dream escaped. Can I stay in your room tonight?"
The Magus lifted an eyebrow at the young boy that was his new apprentice, “And why do you believe the monster escaped, Young Trust?” he inquired without refusing the boy immediately.
♒
♒ = lying to them .
The Magus stared at his apprentice harshly. He knew what the boy had done and what the boy was saying were too different things. He could call him out and humiliate him but then Khadgar would come to resent him for it. So instead Medivh chose to fold his arms and wait for the young man to confess the truth. “Is that so?”
