Dawn wasn’t sure why she was so nervous to meet Benjy’s mum, to have this conversation. Ever since she’d received the news about the Harpies, along with the news (or lack thereof) about Danny, she’d been doing everything she could to keep herself distracted from her own thoughts. She refused to dwell. But now, talking to the other witch meant she had to face it head on. She couldn’t pretend things were fine, or that they’d gone her way anymore. With a bakery box tucked under one arm, she reached up and knocked, waiting for someone to answer the door.

She was glad it was Benjy who did so. “I hope your family likes buns,” she said, holding up the box of Easter treats.

When Marlene had basically come and given him no choice but let her take Billie for the night, Percy figured he might as well make the most of it. Which is what found him in Cardiff, at the quietest pub he could find that Saturday night. Olin was outside the main entrance to Hogwarts, cigarette hanging from his lips, when he spotted his sister walk past. For the most part, he ignored it. It was enough knowing merely his presence there, the glimpses she saw of him, the thought of when she might see him next, gave her discomfort. Occasionally, though, he liked to remind her. After everything she did to him, she deserved that. “Jennifer,” he called, starting after her.

James was in Diagon Alley getting some last minute things, when he spotted a witch acting strange. He watched for a while, as she watched another couple. He couldn’t help but come up next to her and ask, “What’d they do?”
