Delia—she used to be the “bossy” kid so once she stole a younger kid’s toy at school and cried when the teacher got mad at her

I’ll use my characters from “get in losers were summoning a demon” (it’s a working title lol)

April—not squeamish at all.

Delia—thinks blood is gross but will handle it if needed

Eric (wait is that actually his name?? Who knows I’m too lazy to check lol)—will immediately faint at one drip of blood. The definition of squeamish

6. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?

Well, she’s not currently in a relationship, but her last boyfriend found her excessive collection of houseplants rather odd.

19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?

Oh yeah, she’d definitely get in a fight lol. Probably verbal though, she’s good at snark, and she’d win.

35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?

She’s not really afraid of death, she just rather enjoys being alive because she can cause as much chaos as possible while she’s on earth. She’s not sure how she’d like to die, but she’d love to go out with a bang lol—preferably some kind of explosion or something.

49. What is something that your character has nightmares about? Are these frequent? Do they heavily affect your character’s mood?

April doesn’t really have nightmares and she doesn’t usually remember her dreams, but when she does have a bad dream it’s usually about being in school again, because she didn’t have many friends and would much rather prefer not having to learn about things that don’t interest her. They don’t heavily affect her mood, she just kinda thinks about it for awhile and then sighs and goes to eat breakfast.

April 13, 2018 Letter #103 Local artist, April Waters does remarkable work. A few days ago I heard her speak at the Institute for Continual Learning (ICL) at Willamette University. I was surprised at the amount of research that goes in to each painting. Her art usually focuses on water and tends to be very large pieces. She researches the geology and hydrology of her subject and then painstakingly paints it, often focusing on each and every rock. The best part of the talk was her description of the stories she tells with her work. She has done a serious of paintings on the Willamette River and how it winds through the valley I live in. She has a collection of paintings of Opal Creek describing the color and geology of the creek. And she is working on a series of stunning portraits of “sheroes” of the environmental movement. I was envious of story telling ability of her artwork. I’m hoping my letter writing results in similar stories. April was today’s letter recipient.

A dental procedure apparently may be the cause of a Michigan woman’s death.

April Waters, 46, suffered from a variety of health conditions that included diabetes, a pulmonary disease, and sarcoidosis and was on oxygen. According to family members,t despite these health conditions she was functioning normally when she went to the dentist’s office. Because of an infection, Waters was scheduled to have 18 teeth removed in one sitting at Southfield Dental Care in Michigan last Friday. During the procedure, 16 teeth were removed when her heart rate jumped to 130 beats-per-minute.

A dental technician noted before the procedure was to commence that her heart rate was elevated, however the dentist began to proceed with the extraction. The dentist, identified as Dr. Rana Rabban, stopped the procedure when she noticed Water’s heart rate was still elevated and informed her sister, Crystal, to take her immediately to the hospital emergency room. Waters and her sister left the office and went to their car when tragedy struck. Her sister stated that Wate’s was in the back seat and suddenly could not breathe. Her sister rushed into the dental office and staff members came out and began rubbing her chest but not performing proper CPR techniques. An ambulance was called and Waters was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Family members are demanding answers from the dental office and awaiting results of a post mortem examination. A representative of Southfield Dental Care issued the following statement to local media: “We feel deeply for what happened. Our thoughts go out to them. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.” The family is now struggling with their loss and funeral expenses. A GoFundMe account has been established to help with the financial burden. So far, $2,265 has been raised from donors but the family’s goal is $5,400.

April met Vandana a few years ago and painted her portrait as part of a series of larger-than-life portraits that included Maude Barlow, Amy Goodman, Helen Caldicott, Malalai Joya, Cindy Sheehan, and Wangari Maathai. April’s portraits of the seven women were on exhibit at the Living Futures conference, where Vandana Shiva was the keynote speaker.
