Author: blibberinghumdiggory Rating: G Word Count: 4,011 Type: Soulmate!AU

Summary: Snippets of your soulmate's thoughts about you appear written somewhere on your body, they change all the time and are utterly useless. So when one mess of a Sirius Black and one angsty Remus Lupin get caught up in confusion with their words it takes one completely done Lily Evans (with the slight aid of one adoring James Potter) to sort them out.

Comments: Soulmate!AUs can be hit or miss for me, mostly depending on how much sense they make. I liked that this one used thoughts instead of names or first words; my brain accepted it as a logical reason for them to not figure things out right away lol. It also made it more unique and interesting. I was so on board with exasperated Lily trying to push them together, too; not to mention the deeply confused and oblivious Sirius. Overall, it’s adorable and fun and I totally burst out laughing at the final line.

Author: jprongs Rating: Mature Word Count: 6,976 Type: Non-magic!AU, Band!AU

Summary: Sirius Black has quite a few issues: He can't accept that he is only the lead singer of The Marauders half of the time, can't resist drawing attention to himself, and definitely can't resist Remus Lupin.

Comments: I love me a band!AU, and this one was super cute. It’s so much fun seeing the marauders as a band and the fun dynamics that play out; Regulus was a really nice addition in this one as well. Sirius was just the right balance of cocky and vulnerable; he struggles with jealousy and what to do about his feelings, but flirts outrageously with everyone on stage. It’s all so adorable.

Summary: Actor Sirius Black just wants to spend his time off filming shopping in peace. But when an overly excited boy introduces the celebrity to his single dad, everything in his life changes.

Comments: IT’S SO FUCKING CUTE I CAN’T EVEN. Teddy is the most adorable, badmouthed son ever and single dad Remus has my whole heart. Like, uhhhhhhhhhhhh it’s such fluffy, sweet, goodness. Famous, but grounded, Sirius wants a normal love life and is absolutely charmed when he meets Remus and Teddy. This is like my perfect fluff fic, guys. Sweet without being saccharine and problem-free without being boring. Love this one to death.

Author: orphan_account Rating: G Word Count: 9,037 Type: Non-magic!AU

Summary: When Remus Lupin is mugged in an alley, the last thing he expects is to invite the mugger to his flat and offer him food and a job. But that's exactly what he does. What he learns about Sirius Black after that, turns his entire world upside down.

Comments: An unconventional way to begin a love story, but charming nonetheless. Full of kindness, cozy fireplaces, and warm cups of tea, it’s one of the sweetest and most adorable fics I’ve come across. All set in a snug little bookshop where Remus also lives.

#aprilaufest - Day 2

Author: bluepeony Rating: Mature Word Count: 8,219 Type: Non-magic!AU, Ballet!AU

Summary: Remus has devoted his life to ballet.

Comments: I can always expect fics by bluepeony to be beautifully well-written, and this is no exception. The ballet aspect worked surprisingly well; the style and approach to dancing fitting and expanding on Remus and Sirius’ personalities. The part that really struck me, though, was the way everything felt restrained, or repressed, or maybe stifling, as we followed Remus’ point of view. It’s hard to explain; it’s almost as if the author grabs you by the heart and squeezes slowly, and then, suddenly, they let go. An astonishingly poetic piece.

Author: Woldy Rating: G Word Count: 2,863 Type: Magic!AU

Summary: In which there is uprising in the kitchen, kneading dough is not a euphemism, and Sirius devours sticky buns.

Comments: A warm, comfy, cuddly read with a bit of wartime questioning and a lot of baking. A quiet little fic that left me craving both bread and hugs.
