What We Know About Colorful Yui/Bui
(last updated 10/9/25!)
Colorful Yui, still known by her codename Bui in the Metaverse, and her real name Musubi Matsukata, is a variant of Bui.
Technically, “Colorful” is an unofficial translation of the name used in Chinese. You can read more about the reasoning behind this translation choice here. For the time being, this blog refers to her as “Colorful”.
This post focuses on Colorful Yui’s differences from the original Bui unit. Note that while they likely share the same pool of weapons, they are otherwise separate units, but cannot be used on the player’s active team at the same time. This post also covers Musubi's Synergy, as it was added alongside Colorful Yui, and Yui's original Synergy already fills Yui's information post.
Colorful Yui was added to the game alongside Musubi's Synergy in Version 4.5.1. The outfit itself is part of the Synergy's storyline, as Harvest World Online holds an event for the first time since Wonder began playing, and Yui decides she wants to try to rank high enough to earn the unique skin associated with it.
Musubi's Synergy, itself, takes place after Yui's original Synergy, and as such, the game warns you that it's better to complete Yui's Synergy before beginning Musubi's. It focuses on Musubi's struggles with a feeling of stagnation after a new junior employee joins her company. More information about Musubi’s Synergy can be found here.
Colorful Yui/Musubi also had a special animated promo video focused on her.
Colorful Bui’s voice lines are very similar to regular Bui’s, but occasionally reference her team of Vegetable Knights.
Colorful Yui uses Colorful Apseudes in combat, whose appearance is very similar to the original Apseudes, but with a few changes, mainly some recoloring. Unlike Apseudes, however, Colorful Apseudes is categorized as a Nuclear type, and resists Nuclear while being weak to Fire.
Colorful Apseudes is an Assassin Persona, meaning she’s good at targeting single enemies. Her trait allows Colorful Bui to summon four different Vegetable Knights during combat: Eggplant, Potato, Mushroom, and Asparagus, and gain "Source Power". When she has seven Source Power, she consumes it all to use "Mobilize Vegetable Knights", which deals damage to all enemies (categorized as All Out Attack damage) and is not considered using a Persona skill. Colorful Yui can also change her color based on which Vegetable Knight(s) she currently has summoned, and gain the color's corresponding buff:
Eggplant Purple: After using a Persona skill, gain an additional point of Source Power
Potato Yellow: Increases All Out Attack damage by 15%
Mushroom Pink: When dealing damage with Persona skills or an All Out Attack, there is a 4.5% chance to inflict the target with Brainwash for 1 round
Asparagus Green: When dealing damage with a Persona skill, heal yourself for 1% of the damage dealt (max 1000 HP healed)
Her first Nuclear attack skill hits one enemy, grants her 3 Source Power, and activates "Grand Battle" for two rounds: while active, at the end of Colorful Bui's turn, the Vegetable Knights will deal Nuclear damage to a random enemy, then grant an additional effect based on her current color (After using this skill, if Potato Knight is summoned, Colorful Bui will switch to Potato Yellow at the end of her turn):
Eggplant Purple: Gain 1 Source Power
Potato Yellow: Buffs damage dealt for three rounds
Mushroom Pink: Increases the target's damage received for two rounds
Asparagus Green: Heals the teammate with the lowest HP
Her support skill buffs her damage dealt and critical hit chance for two turns, then summons Vegetable Knights in a specific order (Eggplant -> Mushroom -> Potato -> Asparagus, then Potato if all knights have been summoned) passively at the end of her turn. This skill does not consume her turn, and is not considered a Persona skill. Eggplant, Mushroom, and Asparagus Knight do not stack, while Potato Knight stacks up to 4. The first time this skill is used to summon Eggplant Knight, Colorful Bui automatically switches to Eggplant Purple.
Her second Nuclear attack skill hits one enemy, dealing extra damage for every Vegetable Knight she has, and consuming a Potato Knight (if she has multiple) to do even more damage. This skill counts as All Out Attack damage, and grants two Source Power. After using this skill, if Colorful Bui has Eggplant Knight, she will switch to Eggplant Purple at the end of the round.
Her passive skills buff Colorful Bui's damage dealt based on the number of Vegetable Knights she has (counts up to four), and buff All Out Attack damage based on the number of Vegetable Knights that she currently has (no limit stated).
In combat, her melee weapon appears to still be wind and fire wheels (or possibly chakrams), while her ranged weapon is still a laser blaster. Her Highlight is shown several times, including from 3:33 - 3:46, in this video, as it varies slightly based on her current color setting. It deals Nuclear damage to one enemy, then immediately uses Mobilize Vegetable Knights on that enemy.
Her recommended card sets are 1) 10 of Cups (Satiety) + Acuity, 2) 8 of Coins (Prudence) + King of Coins (Determination).
The game recommends teaming her up with 1) Summer Marian, 2) Wind.

What We Know About Bui
(last updated 2/19/26!)
A woman that Wonder plays an online game with, codename Bui, who uses the name “YUI” in their game. Her real name is eventually revealed in her Confidant/Synergy to be Musubi Matsukata. She joins the team as a “Phantom Idol”, or cognitive teammate.
A separate version of Yui (Colorful Yui) will be added Version 4.5.1, and has a separate post documenting her combat information, as well as Musubi's Confidant information (as it is considered separate from Yui's original Confidant, and Colorful Yui ties into it). Note that Colorful Yui cannot be on the same active team as Bui.
Her Japanese voice actress is Chika Anzai.
YUI is a Confidant of Wonder's, though exactly what the earliest point it becomes available at is unclear, as she was added in a later update. Her Confidant focuses on the video game she and Wonder play together, which seems to be an open-world MMO, and the farm they create in it together. She seems to have trouble connecting with people, but becomes close with Wonder. More information about YUI’s Confidant can be found here.
YUI also had a special animated promo video focused on her.
Wonder eventually meets her in the real world, and they go to Boom Bang Burger together. While Musubi at first worries that maybe this is weird, because he's a high schooler and she's an adult (her exact age isn't given, but she's later stated to be 12 years older than Wonder), and he probably wasn't expecting that (as she wasn't, either), Wonder doesn't seem to mind hanging out with her. They get the biggest burger on the menu to split, and after they eat, Musubi mentions she's an employee at an IT firm in Shibuya. Her parents have a farm that's an hour away from the nearest train station, so her options were either becoming a farmer too, or moving to the city to work. She chose the latter, because she hates bugs, but she misses farming sometimes.
Her Confidant rewards speed up the growth rate of Wonder's garden plants in the real world, and eventually give him a chance to get seeds back upon harvesting them.
YUI is somewhat airheaded and excitable, but is extremely familiar with the game world. When Wonder first meets her, she offers him basically whatever amount of in-game money he wants for the free land he got as part of a new player promotion. Instead, he suggests they try sharing the land, and turn it into farmland, which YUI becomes very excited about.
Her overenthusiasm can be a bit overwhelming, especially when working with her. She gets a gigantic tanklike tractor for them to use to prepare the field, nearly loses control of the powerful water hose she uses to water their plants, and fires fertilizer at the plants as if launching a cannon. In the market area, Wonder encounters another person who says he used to know YUI, but her over-the-top behavior and ditzy personality pushed him away. YUI later acknowledges this happens to her sometimes when she interacts with people, and it seems to bother her, though she tries not to let that on too much.
YUI's also very distraught when their in-game fields are destroyed by pests, and doesn't log into the game for quite a while, leaving Wonder to tend the fields and drive off the pests himself. Her reactions heavily suggest she blames herself when something goes wrong, and doesn't deal well with problems that (at least at first glance) feel insurmountable. Her avoidance likely also ties into her impulsiveness- unsure what to do, she almost immediately decides to leave, without taking any time to consider alternatives. However, when she comes back and sees all of Wonder's hard work, she finds a new determination, suggesting she'll try to be better about this in the future.
For these reasons, she seems to really appreciate the protagonist sticking by her. He doesn't seem to have an in-game name, and doesn't want to give her his real name at first, so she calls him "Baron", and shares her troubles with him sometimes. She also seems to enjoy his willingness to try things in the game world, including indulging her farming excitement, and eventually asks if he'll meet "a friend of hers" at the Boom Bang Burger in Shibuya. Both YUI in-game and Musubi in the real world are insistent that they're not the same person, and refer to each other separately.
In the real world, Musubi is much more reserved and quiet, and generally seems tired. She mentions she often is too busy at work to eat dinner. She confirms that she doesn't have many friends ("and neither does YUI"), and that "YUI" really enjoys spending time with Wonder in the game. She seems to be a particular fan of potatoes, especially fries.
Bui's Persona Apseudes (based on one of the sea-nymph Nereids, with her name meaning ‘she who never lies’) is categorized as an Electric type, and resists Electric while being weak to Ice.
Apseudes is an Assassin Persona, meaning she’s good at targeting single enemies, and her trait gives her a chance to follow up a teammate, after they do damage, with an electric attack that increases the damage of the next electric attack to hit the target. Her first electric attack skill hits one enemy and has a chance to shock them (if they're shocked already, the attack's damage is increased), her second electric attack skill hits all enemies and does extra damage to one of them, and her support skill buffs Bui's attack, and selects a teammate to be her "playmate". The next time her playmate uses a Persona attack skill, Bui automatically follows up, then increases the damage of her next two follow ups. Her passive skills cause her follow up attacks to do more damage to shocked enemies, and buff both Bui and her playmate's critical rate whenever she has a playmate.
In combat, her melee weapon is wind and fire wheels (or possibly chakrams), while her ranged weapon appears to be some kind of laser blaster. Her Highlight is shown from 1:42 - 1:51 in this video, and it buffs Bui's attack and specifically her follow up, and guarantees she'll follow up any Persona skill attacks for one round.
Her recommended card sets are 1) 4 of Wands (Renewal) + Princess of Coins (Growth), 2) 4 of Coins (Power) + Princess of Coins (Growth).
The game recommends teaming her up with 1) Closer and Riddle, 2) Moko.
What We Know About Bui
(as of the third beta; last updated 1/23/24!)
Someone Wonder plays an online game with, codename Bui, who uses the name "YUI" in their game. She joins the team as a “Phantom Idol”, or cognitive teammate.
Her Japanese voice actress is Chika Anzai.
Yui is Confidant of Wonder's, though her Arcana is unknown.
She has not yet been seen in-game, outside of being a Phantom Idol, so how this Confidant works, and what game she and Wonder play together, are largely unknown.
Info on her in the real world has been translated as: “A female player the protagonist met in an online game. Obsessed with acquiring in-game land, both decided to grow crops on them per the protagonist's suggestion. She has a naïve personality and occasionally reveals a very ditzy side.”
Beyond this, her personality and situation are largely unknown, as she hasn’t been present in any beta outside of being a Phantom Idol.
Her Persona is Apseudes (based on one of the sea-nymph Nereids, with her name meaning 'she who never lies'), and has Electric skills and a support skill, resisting Electric while being weak to Ice.
In combat, her melee weapon is wind and fire wheels (or possibly chakrams), while her ranged weapon appears to be some kind of laser blaster. Her highlight attack is shown from 1:42 - 1:51 in this video.
An unfamiliar Persona (?) also makes an appearance in the third beta trailer. Its upper arms + legs sort of look like they may be water tanks, which may connect it to the currently-unidentified water teammate?
However, it doesn't seem to visually match the glimpse of something (possibly a chair?) behind the water teammate that's visible when she appears earlier in the trailer, so it's hard to say for sure.
The sort of earlike shapes on its head could alternatively connect it to Bui instead, potentially.
