“ hey. hey. how about we maintain a DECENT and humane distance of at least ten meters from one another? ” she has an armful of chips, cans, crackers, and other grocery items. because who needs a basket? “ i’ve managed to steer clear of whatever psycho cooties everyone seems to be having lately and i’m not planning on having that change any time soon. ”
“Hands off!” The words came out more aggressive then intended. Which, admittedly, was a frequency with him. “This is my milk, go and get your own.” It was his milk, even if the dumbass just ate something spicy.
Sid was out of element. She couldn't help it, parties had never been her forte. However, Valentine’s day was a reminder of one she had lost... and she couldn’t bring herself to be alone on it. It hurt just a bit too much, and there was far to great a risk of loosing control of powers. So instead she wandered around, trying to find the best way to fit in and ‘have fun’. Approaching whom was nearest, she struggled ti find the right way to start a conversation. Finally, opting for “Hey.”
Everything was going soundly. Perfectly, even. So, of course, something went wrong. It was one of the smokers who saw it, realized that their own smoke was intertwining with a new red one. Alarm sounded through, the music quieted as people scurried to figure out just what the hell this was. Was it dangerous?
A single person, the kind that could be called a hero or a moron, decided to attempt strutting through the red smoke. Only to make it halfway through the field of poppies and in a instant, be turned to stone.
Others, curious ones, attempted the same as the first had. The same results fit. The moment they got halfway through the poppies they turned to stone. Yet… there was more. The dizzying lovelorn look in their eyes as the smoke was inhaled. Sometimes instead of going on they’d freeze in their steps and change course. From bursting into tears to switching into a run towards the party.
Hades was prepared to flame down to the Underworld or burn the poppies around them. In doing so, risking the true reveal of the Gods. While others were starting to believe, there had been no confirmation. This would be it. In haste to keep their Godly status hidden Zeus knocked the God of death out of body and onto the Astral Plane.
No one knew just what was going on. Then came the blame. Throwing it around, refusing to take it, only for one woman to scream how Caroline Forbes had chosen their location. The head of the party planning committee, she was the one to blame. Some defended, others continued to blame, but ultimately no one listened. While violence had yet to break out, tensions are high with a witch hunt waiting to start.
Unbeknownst to anyone, inhaling the red smoke makes one overcome with love. Not any love, however. One of the eight different Greek types of it.
Eros (erotic love). This is, simply put, the sexual attraction you feel towards someone. In its best form, passion can be transformative… but it can also become destructive if not kept under control.
Philos (friendship). This is the love we treat as lesser in the modern world. Ironically, the Greeks considered it superior to eros as philos was considered a love between two equals and free of the animalistic pull of sexual desire. Philos is the kind of love two warriors who’ve shared a foxhole feel for one another.
Storge (familial love). This is the love and pride we take in our kinsmen and lifelong friends. For those who are deeply attached to their family name, who remember family members who pass on with great fondness… This is the name the Greeks, a culture based very much on accruing honour to one’s name and descendants, bestowed on this form of love, as it was so very important to them.
Ludus (playful love). The affection between young lovers, this is what we modern folk call “puppy love.” The flirting, teasing and childlike euphoria at being in a new relationship is all part and parcel of this form of love. The Greeks felt that love should have a sense of fun and play; it need not be serious 100% of the time.
Mania (obsessive love). This is what happens when love gets scary, and is the purview of stalkers and the most deluded among us. The Greeks believed that this occurs when there’s an imbalance between the presence of ludus and eros in one’s psyche. Those who experience this form of love also become codependent, and may be perpetrators of abuse of their loved ones.
Pragma (enduring love). This is a mature form of love, having aged like fine wine with time. It’s commonly seen in couples who have been married for decades, and is something we all secretly yearn for – the companionship that looks beyond our limitations, yet loves us for our frail humanity. A love where we are accepted unconditionally and will never stray from us. It’s hard to find, and takes a lot of time and patience to cultivate.
Philautia (self-love). This is where having a “positive mental attitude” and engaging in self-care comes in. The Greeks understood that, in order to care for others, we must first tend to ourselves. This is not a sense of vanity, but an awareness and acceptance of who you really are, showing yourself compassion in darker times.
Agape (brotherhood). This is the greatest form of love there is, and the hardest to aspire to. It demands nothing less than feeling love for all human beings, compassion for all creatures, an acceptance and forgiveness of the flaws of humanity, and the desire to ease the pain of those who suffer. To see in the eyes of every human being your brother, your sister – when humanity, in your mind, becomes your extended family. It’s not about paying lip service to religions that preach compassion, it’s about showing love for others in every word and deed.
Rules:
It’s up to you if you want your character effected or not, and also which form of love they’re effected by.
You could incorporate part 2 into your current threads or start new ones.
NPCs are overwhelmed by the chaos, the smoke itself or keep trying to run despite the results of it, you could have your characters interacting with them.
Chaos is abounding all around, there’s nowhere your character could be alone.
This is part two out of three parts.

philautia ( self love ). “ okay ! ” dramatically clapping his hands together, as though everyone - in the head of all of the madness, his playground, was supposed to take note of his entrance. “ i think i’ve sat back on this ridiculous spectacle for long enough. because now i’m hungry, and entertained, and i’ve had at least four of whatever they were serving which was great by the way.” chugging the rest of it down, having at least kept his grip steady as the violence broke out. “ who wants to join the side of righteous violence? anyone ? ”
Will tried to gear towards loud and explosive anger. EMOTION. Even if it was a negative one, he remembered his mom’s words. How emotion was so utterly important. He hadn’t even really thought about inhaling the smoking, he was laughing at something stupid and then it happened. It was like a switch was turned. From a bold little shit to calculated assassination the one who father and grandfather raised him to be, the one his mom hated. “They are here. Somewhere.” Not in this house, no. But the city itself. He’d known it for a while but hadn’t acted on it, in favor of caution, Fuck caution. “Both of them are too fucking prideful.” He could get them alone, but they were also smart and skilled. A frustrating combo when you wanted to murder someone. A intense look was clear on his face. “They wouldn’t expect a gun though.” He just had to be SMARTER.
The boiling point had long since been reached. If not for the spell over the house and the inability to be outside, fights would of abounded. Time was begging to pass and a certain someone’s anger was festering. Medusa had struck a bargain. In trade for her ‘help’ would be Poseidon’s demise. Make the fools believe there was a spell turning them to stone if they went beyond a certain point. It was tedious but effective. Plus the little power boost form her benefactor was all too fun. Seeing them scared out of their wits was almost worth it. Almost. It became apparent however, there was no care in her ‘partners’ part of the deal. They didn't care about killing Poseidon.
So, for lack of a better term, she snitched. Phoebe Halliwell. The name was in the crowd and then all eyes were on the amnesiac witch. There was no deniability. Instead, her eyes turned black. Only for a moment though, before adjusting to normal, only this time with a sneer on her face. Laughter followed, at all the confusion among everyone else.
“She seemed so nice.”
“Isn’t she a mother?”
“I thought she had amnesia?”
“I’m sorry.” She began to say, though one thing was apparent. She was, in fact, not sorry. “I couldn’t resist. I had to test them about. My powers.” Gleamed eyes scanned over the crowd. “I know you’re around here somewhere. All of you. You think you could keep it secret? What you did to US?” A chuckle. “That voice...” she looked over the crowd, instilling fear in most. “That voice was not lying. The Gods? Your Gods? They’re here. And you... you’ve seen nothing yet.”
Then the women collapsed. A LIGHT emitted from her body, disappearing out the door before one could even process it. Then the smoke began to clear, the red color fading and people began to disperse. As all prepared to leave a beam of light emerged into the sky. A beacon. A special beacon, for special people. Demigods.
The whole idea of the party had sprung with good intent. But, like Phoebe Halliwell, had been hijacked. Millennias ago, when the Gods had their powers sealed and were stuck as mortals, not all of them took it laying down. After securing her child’s life, Demeter secured her own. Demeter became a vampire, an old one with ties to many powerful witches. Witches who had no problem sending her into a different body when asked.
The Godess turned vampire had passed Phoebe Halliwell and sensed her power in a instant. Without hesitation she had a witch send her into the vessel. She allowed the witch to ride front and center most of the time. The key word being most. Demeter wanted to test her regained abilities, and what better way then trapping everyone while her beacon went out. The beacon itself had been in the works since the supernatural’s entrapment in San Francisco. Though she had no desire to see Zeus, Hades or Poseidon, demigods themselves were always helpful.
It was only after the message all had heard that Demeter realized how close the big three were. That they could see her beacon and put an end to it before any Demigod saw it. The timing for her beacon and the party coincided perfectly, of course Demeter had to make use of it.
Now returned to her body, power’s intact, Demeter awaits for Demigods to come. If anyone could kill a God then it’s their children, after all...
Notes
This is part three out of three parts. The big closer!
Like once you’ve seen this post.
This is our second plot drop and event, there will be more. Just like before, for future plot drops and events we’ll be including other characters in them as well. If you’d like for it to include one of your muses, contact us. We plan to keep a list and when the next event and/or plot drop occurs we’ll talk to you about potential roles for your muse in it.
Keep in mind your characters only know of the information Demeter ominously revealed. No one knows the beacon is for Demigods nor the one who was in Phoebe’s body was Demeter.
A new species is now available: Demigods. We will accept all Demigods from Greek Lore. However for OCs there will only be six slots. Keep in mind their age, because only Zeus, Hades or Poseidon could be the parent of anyone relatively young. Please also contact the mun of whatever God’s child you’re applying for prior to applying for an OC.
In a attempt to lift the spirits of those alone and trapped on Valentine’s Day, Caroline Forbes made a plan. More accurately, she assembled a party planning committee team tasked with creating the perfect party picker upper. Not that Caroline couldn’t do it herself, but she did run a school and this party would be bigger then any she planned before.
Her team was an assortment of volunteers:
-- Isaac Adams
-- Landon Kirby
-- Manny Jacoby
-- Penelope Park
-- Phoebe Halliwell
-- Tanya Garden
Eventually the location was chosen. A beautiful old home surrounded by red poppies, a grove of trees, and it was a remote location as not to bother others. All were invited. There was even arranged security, from vampires on the lookout for threats to a sanctuary spell (courtesy of Ophelia Belcourt). The spell ensured that any type of violence attempted within the premise would bounce back on the perpetrator.
There were snacks, games, a bar (with very informed bartenders keeping a lookout for those underage and wearing vervain), and even a place set up for those who smoked (though no smoking was allowed inside). Music swarmed the place, rooms enchanted to be filled with different genres of song.
It was the party no one asked for, but all needed.
