تَناوُلُ الطَّعام

[Tanawulu aṭṭaʿām]

Meaning : to eat food, to have a meal

Although it’s not wrong to use أكل (to eat), but the word that goes with طعام is تناول (which translates to “to get or to receive). The phrase will sound more natural and lighter if you use the word تناول. 

The verb from the noun تناوُل is تناوَلَ (the و has a fatḥa)

Example : يَنْصَحُ الخُبَراء بِتَناوُل الطَّعام بِنَفْسِ الوقت كُلَّ يَوْم | [Yanṣaḥu alẖubarāʾ bitanāwuli aṭṭaʿām binafs alwaqti kulla yawm] | Experts advise (us) to eat our meals at the same time every day.

ضَرَبَ مَثَلًا

Ḍaraba maṯalan

Literal translation : to [hit]* an example

Meaning : to give an example 

When we’re talking about setting an example, the verb that goes with the word “مَثل” (example ) is ضرب; and not the word “يعطي”  (the translation of “give”). 

Example : سأضرب لك مثَلًا كي أُقَرِّبَ الفَكرة  | Sa ʾaḍribu laka maṯalan kai uqarriba alfikra | I’ll give you an example to help you understand this idea.
