I just started watching 1899 and the protagonist is played by Emily Beecham? Adele Bessette? And I only found out after the opening credits rolled out? The red hair and the British accent somehow didn't clue me in???

Funny how a portion of the fandom demonizes Aramis for Adele's death more than the actual person who murdered her.

Like, I get it that you don't like Aramis and yes, he can be a stupid, stupid bastard sometimes and yes, the entire Marguerite storyline was just wrong but can we not blame him for everything that goes wrong in the series?

Yes, Aramis knew the stakes, he knew what he was risking by sleeping with the Cardinal's mistress. But, but......so did Adele. She too was aware of what the Cardinal was capable of. She too knew about the risks. Yet, she chose to pursue the relationship with Aramis.

If you are going to blame Aramis, then by this logic, they are both at blame here. Both of them risked themselves. They are both guilty of being sappy idiots in this case.

And yes, Aramis moved on almost immediately after Adele's disappearance because he didn't know. He didn't know she was killed and wouldn't do so for a whole season. He believed she had moved on and was alive and well and happy in some country estate of the Cardinal and that's that.

okay so this is a little bit from an adele-centric musketeers fic i'm calling A Well-Travelled Woman - let me know what you think and whether or not it might be worth continuing!

Adele Bessette had visited thirty-three cities, and yet Paris was still the one she had chosen to return to, time and time again. On her more boastful days, she’d often say: “I’ve been to as many cities as Jesus saw years on earth!”

Aramis was never too fond of that; she could almost feel the remnants of his superstitious Catholic upbringing clinging to his fingers as he traced her collar. He would press a line of soft kisses against the thrumming pulse in her throat. “Make sure you see your thirty-fourth soon,” he said, every time. She would laugh, deep and throaty, because she was blood and sinew and so full of the moment that she would never be empty enough to leave.

“I’m not going anywhere!”

He sat up and looked at her for a long time, long enough that she grew impatient with lying back and waiting for him to pick up where he’d left off. His name was mounting the edge of her tongue, just about ready to trip off and leap into the silence, when he finally shook his head. She watched his hair tumble out of place, and her fingers itched to smooth it back. “Of course you’re not,” he said, and smiled as she pulled him closer and pressed a deep kiss to his lips.
