Because I read it properly now.

And, well, IMO it’s very bad. Basically in every panel we are either told by Yunan, Hakuryu or Arba (unfortunately, Morgiana is too irrelevant to have any input on someone she’s know longer than them) how awesome, powerful, wonderful, genius and glorious Aladdin is. Or we’re shown how he shrugs off Arba’s supreme force magics (extreme strength magics in other translations) as if they’re nothing.

Then he is not just better than Yunan at Yunan’s own magic (and Hakuryu hastens to point out that it is completely self-taught, so no Mother Dragon or magicians from Kina helped him figure it out, which just makes it worse), but goes beyond that into some absurd number of over a million, which, yeah...

And then it happened.

Despite making no narrative sense, Aladdin is the person who rescues Hakuei.

And then I wondered why. Why wasn’t it Hakuryu, Komei or Koen who did it? Why Aladdin?

And then I read the rest and got a sinking feeling in my stomach. You see, if Hakuei hasn’t aged since her possession (and her body definitely hasn’t), then Hakuei and Aladdin are the same ages as Toto and Olba when they got together.

And I wondered if the author is trying to retroactively make Aladdin rescuing Hakuei make sense by making Hakuei Badralbadour (Aladdin’s love interest and a Chinese princess in the original tale of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp)?

Which... Nope. For the love of Ilah’s jazz hands, NO! Just no.

Oh, and I already reacted to how Aladdin’s first impulse upon rescuing Hakuei from possession in which Hakuei’s mother used her body to massage and flirt with Sinbad (if not more) was to molest her while she remained unconscious.

But it bears repeating that it’s fucked up that he hasn’t stopped doing that during the time skip.

Oh, and Hakuryu and Aladdin are being stupid. We’ve already been told that Hakuryu is an ideal vessel for Arba, and that if she doesn’t mind not being at her strongest, any body or doll would do.
