Root Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S LT18i on Android ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)

Good news! Fresh start of a new month and yes! My disappearance had some pretty odd reasons.  Well who cares for now! Good news are that you can now root your beauty Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S LT18i and enjoy Android ICS 4.0 on it! So are you ready for it? If yes, then read on...

Before we proceed further, we warn you that rooting is dangerous. It voids your warranty,  it can brick your phone, it could lead to a life time disaster if you make the slightest mistake even. So be sure you know what you're doing before proceeding. And yes, lets not forget, the staff and writers at technoflames are not at all responsible for any event arising before, after or while attempting this upgrade.

The credits of this root go to the XDA Developer team whose member DooMLoRD has successfully repacked a script for the Xperia Arc S.

ESSENTIALS TO HAVE BEFORE PROCEEDING

Xperia Arc S (LT18i) with ICS firmware version 4.1.A.0.562 (unlocked/locked bootloader)

Windows PC and ADB drivers running on your PC. ( Link )

USB debugging mode should be enabled on the smartphone. Head over to Settings>Developer Option> USB debugging mode.

Head over to Settings -> Security -> Unknown Resources to activate unknown resources on your set.

ROOT USING FASTBOOT

To root your smartphone with fastboot, download these files to your PC. Superuser, ARC-DoomKernel and Fastboot

Connect Xperia Arc S to PC via USB cable.

Copy the zipped Superuser file "Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip" to the root of the smartphone's SD card and disconnect the smartphone from your PC.

Now proceed with extracting Fastboot.zip file and place the file in C:\directory on your PC. Extract the zipped Fastboot zip with four files inside.

Place the file ARC-DooMKernel-ICS-BETA-V04-lower-boot.img in Fastboot folder. Fastboot folder will have a total of 5 files.

Connect back the smartphone to the PC and ensure Fastboot is switched on. Do this by plugging the USB cable to PC first. Hold on to the menu key for a while and then connect the free end of USB cable to the smartphone.

Launch CMD on your PC and type: cd c:\Fastboot  (press enter) fastboot boot ARC-DooMKernel-ICS-BETA-v04-lower-boot.img

Please wait while the phone flashes up. Once flashed, it will automatically reboot.

Once you see the Sony splash screen and blue LED, press back button repeatedly on the phone and enter into ClockworkMod Recovery.

Select Install ZIP from SD Card when in ClockworkMod Recovery. Now opt for Choose ZIP from SD Card and browse over to Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and select the file. Install the file by selecting Yes option.

Once installation is done, head over back to the main recovery menu by clicking on the Back button on the smartphone.

Choose Reboot System Now option.

Now install BusyBox on your smartphone to complete the rooting process. Click here to download it.

Launch the Installer app on the smartphone (for BusyBox) and choose the Allow button to grant root access to the application. (Choose OK when a pop up screen shows).

And YOUR DONE ROOTING ! Using FAST BOOT!.

ROOT USING ONE-CLICK METHOD

Download Rooting Toolkit for Xperia 2011 ICS available here to your PC.

Extract file and place it inside a folder.

Connect the smartphone with your PC using USB cable and double click on runme.bat available in the folder where you extracted files.

Rooting process will begin automatically and end successfully with a message of All Done.

Once done, disconnect your smartphone from the PC.

You're done rooting your smartphone!

You may now enjoy your rooted smartphone!

Berhubung hape gw baru balik stelah disita 3 minggu, pas bgt Sony akhirnya merilis major update buat seri Xperia 2011nya ke Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0)

Bagi yang masi pake Gingerbread, kalo mau stay juga gpp kok malah disarankan karena abis upgrade ngaruh bgt ke performancenya, tapi bagi yang mau ttp upgrade ya silahkan, UI barunya keren kok :D

Oke langsung aja ke tahapan upgrade

Aplikasi gausa diback-up gpp karena gaakan ilang, kcuali kalo ga kompatibel, tapi bnykan ga ilang kok :D

Setelah melalui berbagai rintangan dan ga berhasil ngerooting Kernel terbaru Gingerbread, Sony akhirnya memberikan kesempatan berupa celah Android Emulator Hack yang sbnernya dah tua.. oke langsung aja

Cara 1 :

Banyak rintangan yg gw hadepin sampe akhirnya berhasil ngeroot ini ICS

Spt biasa. siapin hapenya, trus ke setting, aplikasi, developblablabla, centang usb debug, stay awake, trus balik ke home lagi..

Trus, trnyata kli ini aplikasi yang kita bakalan pake ternyata update-an ny aplikasi rootkit DoomLord yang dulu gw coba ga berhasil *sekarang bisa dan gw tw penyebabnya* yaitu   Rooting Toolkit for Xperia 2011 ICS , download di 

http://icxperia.com/doomlord/DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su.zip

Kita harus Install ADB Driver (Android Debug Bridge), semacem driver yang brguna sbgai bridge ato penyambung antara komputer dgn hape spy bisa brkomunikasi dlm bentuk command line yang memungkinkan penginstallan aplikasi, logging ato semacemnya tapi tanpa ketauan sama pengguna ato istilahnya lainnya di skrip BAT itu Echo:Off

Cara ini rada ribet tapi ikutin aja cara gw oke? ini pasti berhasil abisnya penjelasan di web" lain ga jelas dan kadang malah bisa menyesatkan. Install Android SDK (http://dl.google.com/android/installer_r18-windows.exe) sama JDK (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-7u4-downloads-1591156.html)

setelah selesai install keduanya, buka Android SDK Manager, terus centang Google USB Driver terus install dan download ADB drivernya di http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=772677&d=1320510166

extract folder android driver yang barusan di download di direktori Android : Program Files\Android\android-sdk\extras\google

nah, masalah driver beres :D

Sekarang extract program Toolkit yang ada di step 2 tadi terus buka runme.bat dan klik apa aja.. tunggu sampe tulisannya ALL DONE

Im no blackberry fan and iPhone is wayyy too expensive for me.

I'm torn between Xperia Arc S and xperia Neo V.
