Something that bothers me about post-canon Arcane fics is the fact that lots of times they completely forget abou Caitlyn's pain, physical and mental.
She was obviously stabbed by Ambessa in the eye, but some people seem to forget that she was also stabbed in the stomach; she fought with that dagger sticking out of her side and then removed it to cut Ambessa's protection bracelet thing. She had to be bleeding out from 2 open wounds until medical help came, which I assume had to take some time considering Viktor's glorious evolution attempt. So that's on the physical side, but we also have to remember that she lost Jayce, probably a brother figure to her. He was the one to reach out for her after Cassandra's death, and she easily opened up to him about it. In that line, she most likely knew Viktor aswell; at the end of the day her family were the sponsors of hextech, so she most likely grew up around him aswell. Then,there's also Mel, who always seemed very protective and sweet towards Caitlyn, understanding her pain and the way she copes. We know Caitlyn didn't grow up with many friends, and now every single person she trusted is gone, and her father is lost in his own depression. Oh, and let's not forget about the fact that Maddie literally tried to kill her, bacause, like it or not, Cait trusted Maddie. She will also have to deal with the pain of all the soldiers and citizens that died at the war, yet she'll have to pretend to be okay because she's still Piltover’s commander, and the cities are probably looking up at her, specially in moments like that.
Of course Vi's in so much pain, she lost practically everything, but we can't pretend like Caitlyn would be there for here 24/7, cause she has many things to deal with her own. That's a bit of the beautiful tragedy, in my opinion, it's a chance for Caitlyn and Vi to open up to eachother, mourn and heal together, without forgetting eachother's pain.
