( 15. ) Kiss in the Rain.
They didn’t speak.
Blood drummed in his ears and drowned him—their lips moved, magnetic, overlapping and interlocking as he drank the glass and lightning from the scarred lips. His soaked palms shifted on the back of the other’s scalp and neck. The rain dribbled from the assassin’s unmasked jawline and pelted against his armour. It washed the fresh vermilion off his blades, weathering the life off onto the ground as quickly as he took them. The metallic edges collided and pushed against his bones every time he felt the other’s teeth threaten to sink into him. His fingers, too, became claws, as if to carve petroglyphs into the skin and metal.
For a moment, the rain desperately tried to silence the screaming wind—a double-edged lie, and the whetted blade of its unforgiving truth cutting the silhouettes of wooden veins that encircled them. Towards the end, he quickly learnt to always expect the tinge of iron to linger at the tip of his tongue. Whether it was Zed’s blood or his own, Ezreal couldn’t care less. He stopped caring. His eyelids opened to an unreadable expression, and he pretended to watch the droplets trace over his scars. And they stood. Still.
Wordless.
They didn’t need any.
