Hey! I've identified as demi for about 7 years, but after dating some people I've noticed a pattern. Initially, I'm sexually attracted to them and happy to be intimate, but I find in time I end up becoming uncharacteristically sex repulsed. This can end up straining my side of the relationship bc I become so uncomfortable with the idea of us being intimate. I was wondering if this happens to others? It's just happened for the third of 3 relationships and it keeps catching me off guard!

Hello anon! I have heard of this. There are plenty of people out there whose sex favorability fluctuates. A micro-label that immediately comes to mind is ARCflux, which you might want to look into. I also encourage you to look into any commonalities you can think of between the 3 different relationships: does it coincide with a relationship milestone, a certain level of emotional intimacy, etc? Does the sex favorability ever return with the same partner after some time has passed? 

Whatever the case, I think the best thing for you is to try to learn to see the shift coming, and take measures to lessen the strain it puts on your relationships. Be open and communicate with your partner - let them know that this is something that could happen. To watch your partner close off completely from intimate experiences with you without warning is incredibly jarring and scary, I imagine.

hai hello how r u, this is a tad bit random, but i wanna remind everyone that just bcuz someone's aroace doesnt mean they dont like romance or wanting the horizontal tango every now and then.

I feel like a lot of beings r very ignorant on the concept of aroace-ness and always being ""stone cold"" and ""loveless"" in derogatory ways (if that makes...any sense)

My parents don't even believe in being aroace...(my mom does kinda but it's a very stiff view.) and think it's something "everyone goes through" and "everyone is like that when they're younger" and it sucks.

idk, i just wanna let beings know this term exists. but do keep in mind it's usually used for asexual beings. (the term on pronouns.page is strictly about being asexual, but it's the same for aromantic-ness. i'm probably gonna make a flag for arcflux for aro beings.)
