I’m watching a 2005 film with Charlize T. for the first time- Aeon Flux (it’s on Netflix if I pique anyone’s interest).

And I think Sara is an obvious choice for the lead in an AU, an underground rebel.

Set the Time Bureau (mixed with the Time Masters) as the Goodchild Regime, and the League as the rebellious Monicans.

So when Laurel is “killed” by Bureau agents, Sara is tempted by the opportunity to finally kill the leader- whether this is Rip or Ava. But then she’s in  front of them and they’re like “holy shit it’s you Sara!” Then Sara begins to realize that all the past several generations of society have been clones, with constantly recycled DNA (once all remaining humans became infertile)- that’s why when they dream they have flashbacks of their original lives. Rip and/or Ava has been trying to fix the infertility (maybe Ray or Felicity or insert other character is doing the science) but a nefarious element (for our purposes, let’s say Vandal, an outlier between the League and Bureau) is trying to thwart those efforts, because he loves being immortal (insert subplot here with Kendra and her S1 plotline against him). ETA also: Nyssa as Sithandra!!!

Idk, I just needed to put some notes down on this. But if anyone else wants to tackle it, I’ll owe you big time.

Potentially offensive opinion under the cut:

I don’t find it wrong that Rip kept recruiting Ava clones? His literal words to her were that she’s so special, and that she’s essentially irreplaceable- her skill set matters. And clearly, he likes who she is. Like, I don’t resent Ava at all for having hard feelings toward him right now, or an identity crisis, but I don’t get why fandom is mad at him? Maybe my feelings are tempered because I’m still waiting for a shoe to drop where she’s his Aunt Michelle, and the constant resurrection is him trying to hold on to another relative.

Regardless, he never treated her as subhuman, he didn’t try to override her or anything in this episode when she was mad at him- he still tried to convince her but not control her. Like, oops, but I find the (platonic) relationship between Rip and Ava a whole lot more compelling than the Ava/Sara romance at this point.
