Some lore for archangel tools
Stuff is written out but it could be hard to read on tumblr so I’ll retype it, with some extra stuff not featured in the pic
ARCHANGELS’ TOOLS
Specific tools are assigned to individual Archangels, but these tools can also be shared among other people. In that case, the tool will gain new characteristics based on the wielder.
MICHAEL
His tool is a sword that glows brightly and sports a blue hue. It’s cut is usually explosive, and the sword grants him extra courage. He is usually never seen without it, unless on Earth.
Uriel enjoys wielding the same sword. For him, the sword has a red hue and the blade bursts into flames at his touch. The fire consumes things at a rapid pace, as if they were covered in flammable oil, and Uriel can use it to call storms.
Before the sword was Michael’s, it belonged to Lucifer. He only had it when he was an angel, and this was before a time when all archangels were given specific tools. As an angel, the sword acted the same as it does with Michael now, the only difference being that it had a golden hue. Now, should Lucifer wield the sword, it drips with angel blood—which is particularly ironic, as angel blood is painfully effective against demons.
RAPHAEL
His tool is a large staff that grants him extra power when he uses healing magic. Raphael is known to be a healer, and can do so on his own, the staff only gives him extra perks. He also has the ability to create shields of light with it, and cast an area of healing effects.
People other than archangels are able to wield tools, too. For example, when Mrithun uses the staff, it transforms into a spear with a red-hued blade. Like Michael’s sword, cuts become explosive. It cannot double as a healing tool in this regard, unless returned to Raphael.
GABRIEL
Gabriel has a few symbols to his name, but his tool is a shining lantern that hangs at the end of a staff, usually sported by a bouquet of lilies. When wielded by him, it glow brighter as he speaks with praise and good news, and dimmer if he brings negative news. However, ever since his vow of silence, the lantern no longer burns and the lilies stay closed. He still carries it with him in many places, but the aura of righteousness has disappeared from it.
When others use it, it typically acts as a truth-seeker, burning brightly when the speaker tells the truth and dimly when they don’t. While it can transform into other things based on the user, a truth-seeker is the most common iteration.
URIEL
While not used by him often, his tool is a scroll of wisdom. It’s mostly used to indirectly serve humans, acting as an automatic translator, a paper mirror for symbolism, or even a way to speak to God and other saints/angels directly, where their thoughts are transmitted onto the paper.
Keep in mind that the possibilities of tools changing properties/characteristics with each new wielder is nearly endless. Archangel’s tools can also work against the wielder in certain circumstances, as in Lucifer’s ase. Due to the powerful possibilities that these tools possess, they’re often closely-guarded, and the archangels only share the tools among themselves (with some exceptions).
