My Archangel characters!

So.... I had an idea and that idea took up nearly everything on my to-do list. HERE ARE SOME OF THE CHARACTERS FOR A STORY I'M MULLIN ABOUT-

Hey!! I wanted to start angel work (specifically with AA Raphael) and I was wondering if you could give out some advice?? Thanks in advance. (Pssst @edensvessel sent me)

Hi Anon, I'm more than happy to help out!!

I don't have any personal experience with AA Raphael, so I can't speak too much on him in a practical sense, but I do know a decent amount about him from research so I'll give it a shot! Most of what I talk about though will be more broad and can be applied to any Angel unless stated otherwise.

Apologies for how long this is, I sometimes don't know when to shut up, but I hope it answers some of your questions!

The nature of Angels:

The Angels' whole existence is to love and help and guide humankind no matter what. No matter your religious beliefs, your ethnicity, your sexuality, your age, or any past mistakes, because they are made to be loving and forgiving beings - that's not to say that Angel's are not also warriors/soldiers and vary in personality and values, because they are and they do. But one core value that unites all Angels is their love and protective nature for humans, this is simply by their design, their purpose if you will.

If you wish the angels to intercede in your life, then ask. Through prayer, letters, meditation, or whatever works best for you, you can invite them into your life and/or ask them to intercede in a situation, because they will only do so with your expressed consent. Another big thing with the Angels is free will.

To dispel the elephant in the room, Angels are not inherently linked to the Christian or any other Abrahamic faiths solely. They can and do exist and work outside of them, and you don't need to be a follower of those faiths (this includes Christopaganism) to be able to work with or worship the Angels. If you want to, that's totally cool too! It's your practice and your faith, it's ultimately up to you how you go about it, but just letting you know it's not a necessity.

On working with/worshipping them:

I’d suggest doing your research first ofc, so you know what they’re an angel of, with understanding their correspondences and what they’re associated with, it can be easier to reach out or create a connection.

It would be good if you could find and read any mythology/stories around them too, but this can be difficult depending on what archangel/angel, so if you can’t don’t stress.

Then it’s as easy as inviting them into your life and, if you wish to, starting to pray to them - if praying doesn’t feel right to you, you can write them a letter, journal with them in mind, or simply talk to them (with their due respect ofc, politeness goes a long way).

You don’t need and altar or shrine if you don’t want/can’t have one, but it's also okay to have one if you can/want to, there's no real big deal if you do or don't have a physical space to work with them.

In the way of offerings, anything will do! Devotional acts are great if you can't offer any food or drinks or physical items. It might be obvious but it's good to "theme" (for lack of a better word) your devotional acts and offerings according to what Angel it's for. For example, you said you want to work with Archangel Raphael, so you could take any medication you need to as an act for him, or take a first aid class, or learn more about health and medical professions. For offerings you could do any iconography of him (this goes for any Angel), band-aids, soothing teas, or a compass (since he's also associated with travellers). But again, anything with good intentions will be appreciated. Historically (in Abrahamic faiths), Angels only received offerings when something specific was being asked of them, a trade of sorts. You can choose to do this in your practice if you wish, or you can give offerings whenever you feel like or to express gratitude; it's up to you!

Archangel Raphael:

Like I said before, I don't have any personal experiences with him, so all of this is research based.

Your experience of him may be different and that's totally fine, Angels (or any deity/entity for that matter) will work with people/present themselves/teach people different things according to what they feel each person needs from them.

Happy Michaelmas to all who celebrate!

This year, I made three mini altar sections for all three archangels; Gabriel, Raphael and Michael (left to right).

I followed my white mass script order, and for the liturgy of the word section, I pulled readings from Scripture fitting each angel, followed by individual prayer and offering, ringing my glass bell after each prayer.

Saint Gabriel: Daniel 8: 15-18. Offering: water in a chalice. Blue candle.

Saint Raphael: Livre de Tobie, chapitre 5:10. Offering: frankincense stick incense, and myrrh perfume on my forehead and wrists (since I’m in surgery recovery and it’s going well). Green candle.

Saint Michael: Apocalypse 12: 7-11. Offering: Michaelmas daisies I had picked a few days ago. Red candle.

For my main prayers, I had this song play in the background. It hits hard and was very thematic for angel’s wings:
