So I happened to see your post about archangel weapons and then I checked out your blog and discovered that a House of Sins is an original story by you. I checked its tag but it seemed to just be art and some lore posts which were cool but I want to read this story. I didn’t see it on ao3 and YouTube just had some songs. So where can I find this story? Or do the YouTube songs tell it?

TLDR: it’s not posted anywhere, it’s an old story made when I was a teen, I really don’t have any plans for continuing or finalizing it. Everything you can find about it is either on my blog or my yt channel, but nowhere else.

Yeah, A House of Sins is a very old discontinued story I was making when I was a teenager. Everything to be found is on my tumblr tag or in whatever old videos I’ve posted on my yt channel, but the most that was actually written about it was through text exchanges with a buddy years ago.

AHOS did help me a lot through navigating my religious weirdness as a teen, and I didn’t end it because I’m ashamed of it (mostly), but because as I grew up and figured out my belief system I realized that I just kind of didn’t need that story anymore. I’m a theology/bib studies major and a lot of my ideas in AHOS were wrapped up in modern cultural Christianity/demonology rather than actual textual studies that highlighted the real historical people groups who created and practiced those religions (which I find to be way more important than the shallow ideas usually presented in pop culture … rambling, anyway)

And, also, again.. I was a teen writing that story lol. I just didn’t get a lot of things right and even though I have reused some ideas from AHOS for current creative endeavors, it would be too much of a hassle to try and fix everything and continue on with the story as-is.

If I were to ever properly return to AHOS, it wouldn’t look the same at all. For now I’m fine just occasionally poking at it for fun, rehashing some designs, and answering asks like this about it :]

The general idea for the story was: Lucifer is actually a tragic villain and now commits many escapades to try and stick it back to God. He has family issues with the archangels—his brothers—and his employees are other fallen angels as well as humans-made-demons under his authority: these are the seven deadly sins, personified by people whose lives Lucifer thought best resembled their respective sin.

This story was also tied up with a spinoff called Copper & Bones where Lucifer finds love in a human and blah blah blah it’s kind of just an edgy redemption story because I had a lot of big feelings about what forgiveness and redemption and nuance meant in a religion that supposedly cared a lot about all three but was represented by a church whose hypocrisy spat on all of those ideas. AHOS was a both vent piece and fun creative outlet all in one. I had a massive amount of worldbuilding that went into it but, again, I mostly only use it now for pickings for my newer stories and otherwise let it remain a fond memory.

So, I’m sorry there’s really not a whole lot to find on that front. If you’re curious, I also have the #copper & bones tag on my tumblr, it was like a prequel to AHOS and a lot more grounded, too. I would consider most all of the religious ideas in those stories to be very outdated, and if I do ever come back to C&B or AHOS I’d love to display more compelling commentaries on Christianity beyond just teen vent pieces yk? Lol

I loved A House of Sin and have been going through as much as possible about it. Such a cool story, and the characters are *chefs kiss* superb, I seriously suggest checking it out under the #AHOS and #A House of Sin tags.

Goodness, I haven’t seriously thought about that old thing in a while… I have thought a small bit about about some redesigns, though, especially for the archangels. These designs aren’t necessarily cemented, but some concepts I had fun drawing up

Uriel’s main attribute is wisdom, with their two primary symbols being a flame and a scroll. Uriel draws a lot of inspiration from a candle in their main body, their “core” being wax with a flame melting away at their top. The rest of their body is encased in brass armor, the same material and style you’d find in vintage candles. The swirly bits mimic the finger-holds of candle holders, and their collar is a Victorian automatic candle-snuffer. Their wings are made of scrolls, burned and torn with use.

Beata’s design I’m not as happy with, but I think it was a good shot. A mantis-demon, meant to lure the eye with possibilities of what lies beyond the border of humanity and caters to natural order. All that appeals has already been introduced to the world, and she will represent it in her form.

Both of them value wisdom and intelligence above all else, having short tempers for those who they feel should know better about any given situation.
