The House of the Vettii, one of the most luxurious residences in @pompeii - Parco Archeologico, belonged to wealthy merchants. The house of the Vettii, owned by two brothers after 20 years of closure for restoration and a partial reopening in 2016, is open to the public again and can be admired for the first time in all its current architectural complex articulation. The house is named after the owner Aulus Vettius Conviva, a formerly enslaved person who built up a luxurious and prosperous life in the city of Pompeii. The sumptuous pictorial and sculptural furnishings of the house reflect the city's territory's wealth. Social climbing wasn't an accident in that local contest and allowed the two formerly enslaved people to rise to the highest levels. Repost.
