genuine question for the writers of assassin’s creed odyssey;
why the ever-loving fuck did you make pausanias the cultist king when archidamus ACTUALLY DIED IN 427 BC???
the real pausanias was king from 445 BC (as a minor, when his father was exiled) until 426 BC when his father retook the throne, and then ruled again from 408 BC to 395 BC. historians don’t know specifically when he died, but it was after 380 BC. so about 40 years after his in-game death.
whereas the real archidamus II ruled from 476 BC to his death in 427, which would’ve made killing him in game actually work historically (and could’ve potentially provided a pretty hilarious throw in about our boy alcibiades).
so my guess is the devs wanted to “subvert expectations” or something by choosing pausanias to be the cultist but god it is infuriating that they so drastically altered historical fact in this aspect when they conformed so well in the rest of the game.
