What are your ATLA ships, and why do you ship them?

ZUTARA!!! 

But tbh looking back now, I’m glad they weren’t canon. It’s a show about friendship and romance doesn’t always need to be there. However, I don’t love Katara and Aang being canon to me. Being canon in the future, sure. but they never worked for me at that point in the show. Felt like it was more about Aang than Katara. But I really love Zuko and Katara and it’s shocking I haven’t read more fic for them tbh. Suki and Sokka are cute but I was never super invested but I appreciate them. 

Why I ship Zuko and Katara . . . Hmmm. Well, I love all their scenes together. I’ll be rewatching soon for more details, but he always treats her like an equal. And in s3, when he joins them, I love that she doesn’t forgive him right away, I love their field trip episode, I love when they fight Azula. . . *sigh* I think they just work really well together.

Hi! For the AU headcanons thing: baby Elrics never tried to resurrect their mother and never left Risembool (I've seen that name written so differently everywhere, now I'm not sure if I spelled it right)

This one is hard, because ultimately everything in the series connects back to Ed and Al, so if you remove them from the plot, everything changes. Okay, headcanons:

Hughes doesn’t die. He doesn’t look into things for the Elrics, so he doesn’t figure out about the nation wide transmutation symbol and never draws the attention of the Homunculi.

Ling stays in jail after being arrested, because without Hughes dying, Maria Ross is never accused of murder, and there’s never a prison break. He does not become Greed, so Greed never has his change of heart.

Scar doesn’t join the other side. Winry was the push Scar needed to change his ways.

Father’s plans aren’t revealed fast enough, at the very least, so the entire country is probably destroyed. 

Ed and Al live relatively happily through their childhoods, but then they and everyone they live dies horribly.

“Team 7,” read off Iruka, “Kiba Inuzuka, Hinata Hyuga, Shino Aburame.”

Ignoring the cluster of mumbling among the students, the teacher continued with the list wondering how Hiashi would take seeing his first born return to the academy for a supplemental semester. It wasn’t like Kakashi would pass this group of kids after all.

“Team 8; Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, Choji Akimichi.”

Iruka didn’t know Kurenai personally, but professionally the woman was one of the best mission partners to work with in the field. She was quick to act and just as quick to workshop out problems atypical to the mission parameters. She didn’t abide slack, nor willing ignorance, and (as far as Iruka knew) wasn’t shy about butting her nose into business clan-raised shinobi tended to steer clear of.

“Team 10; Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha.”

Poor Asuma, thought Iruka, he must have actually pissed off Lord Hokage the other day. Asuma had gotten tossed into the current teaching rotation after a not-yelling match, but Iruka had been sure they’d settled on the latest Ino-Shika-Cho line-up for the Sarutobi jounin. Unfortunately, instead he was getting the hardest team to deal with.

“Please wait here for your new sensei.”

At least it wasn’t Iruka’s problem to wrangle this class anymore.
