Being an architect
Day 2: human is what we are
The architecture of happiness
What does it mean to me to be happy? What narratives and imprints of happiness did I observe as a child and think were real? How did it shape what I believe happiness to be?
The stories that the pain and shame and grief can tell us can make life unbreathable.
To me it means something to do with alignment, sometime to do with when my choices reflect my true values, what I truly believe in and what I truly care about.
It means time with loved ones and friend of course. It means being financially in a good enough place to not worry about how I am going to make something work. It means enjoyment of food and wine and good conversation.
It means love. love love love love love love. love of all kinds love all around me.
I’d like to not be in a place where I am sitting on my bed crying, holding my knees and rocking back and forth. At a certain point, I hope I reach the level of self love that means I don’t draw these kind of people into my field anymore.
Happiness - when you have it - is so sweet and think and rich like honey. It pours out of my skin and my face and my eyes and my finger tips. it is overwhelming in the best way. It is memories of him in my bed, among the white sheets, kissing my shoulder. It is unforgettable.
Sometimes is evasive, like many of the best things. When you try to look for it is it so hard to find. It often just shows up once you have made enough of the right decisions, the right decisions for your true self of course.
Love is the foundation of everything and the architecture of happy but it is sourced from a love that comes within. The path of looking for it on the outside never works. Though we all try it. We all learn that it is external at some point. i don’t know why - I guess because consumerism does that to us.
Visions and promises fo what happy is supposed to be surround us and make us question what our happy is and if it is good enough - especially if it is different.
Different things are always the best things. That’s what I believe.
My happy is different that everyone else’s happy. And I think it all comes down to me wanting to really be a person that I admire and love and am proud to be. I care what I think about me. Not so much anymore about what others think. That is a recent change. It has been a long process of letting go.
