Embassy Suites - Dallas Galleria Cost: $149.58 Room Type: King Basic Suite First in our three hotel stay in the greater DFW area was a quick overnight stay in the Galleria Area. Neat, clean, orderly and well-maintained are all accurate descriptions for this uptown hotel. However it did have one very unique feature...SWANS! Yes, there are live swans living in the lobby area in the small fountains. Apparently they're the mascots for the hotel. The rest of the lobby area followed the standard Embassy Suites layout. The integration of the bar and restaurant were a nice touch and really tied the space together. Fully-automated curtains , keep the intense desert sun at bay. The nice large, king bed was extremely comfortable after a long day running around the strip and the over-sized bathroom was a nice touch. The deluxe rooms coming in at 520 square foot sanctuaries offer a welcomed escape from the craziness of Vegas. This hotel is definitely on the list for my return trip, whenever that may be. Aside from the rooms it’s worth mentioning that every restaurant in this massive hotel is fantastic. All of the brand-specific furnishings are here and they are very well-maintained. As a DoubleTree hotel, this meets my expectations as I tend to favor this particular brand of Hilton hotels over many others. We secured a room on the 11th floor which is also a #hiltonhonors floor. The elevated level offer spectacular views of Los Angeles traffic, but even with its proximity to the highways and LAX, this hotel is tucked away far enough for a quiet, restful stay. The lounge downstairs is great for families and it was typically crowded at night as dads were enjoying a beverage and kids were playing around the expansive lobby. Embassy Suites El Paso Cost: $174.31 Room Type: 2 Queen, 2 Room Suite Another I-10 stopover, this time in El Paso, Texas. Like embassy suites, you’ve come to expect large rooms, a huge atrium, a solid business dinner with beverages and a made to order breakfast. Unfortunately, on this stay we didn’t have time to enjoy all of the amenities. However, we did enjoy the comfortable room and the nearby taquerias. Having stayed in other Embassy Suites that embrace the a south of the border design motif, this hotel is all business. Gray and white line the atrium with wood grains accenting the ground floor restaurant and seating areas. It’s a very inviting and bright space and certainly one that business travelers would appreciate. My only gripe would be on the elevator size. Hampton Inn & Suites Pensacola/I-10 Pine Forest Road Cost: $127.11 Room Type: 2 Queens with Microwave and Fridge On our trip from the east coast to the west coast one of our stays included a night in Pensacola. We were seeking a place close to the highway for an easy pullover and a quick trip back onto I-10 in the morning. This particular Hampton Inn fit the bill perfectly. Recently renovated this hotel was neat, clean and just what a weary traveler needs after a long day of driving. Room amenities were in good condition and most importantly another comfortable Hilton bed. The design of the rooms fit the beach vibe for being in Pensacola and the pool in the rear was nice touch too for families on the road. Hampton Inns can be hit and miss, this hotel is highly recommended for the road warrior on I-10.
