Hilton Palm Springs Price: $132.00(off-season) Room Type: King Bed Alcove Room(Upgrade) The Hilton Palm Springs is one the iconic California properties and on my bucket list. When I was in town for work I had to book a room and thankfully no one wants to be here in August so the rate was fantastic. At check in I received an upgrade to an alcove suite with a pool view. It was 116 degrees that day so I was happy to stay in the air conditioning but I can imagine this being a complete oasis during the winter. The room had some very nice modern touches and did a great job maintaining the Palm Springs vibe. It’s currently undergoing renovations so I’m anxious to go back when it’s completed. DoubleTree Los Angeles Westside Cost: $199.99 Room Type : Single King Bedroom (No Upgrade) Another one of my solid go-to hotels in the LA Area. Great rates, good service, consistent quality and the perfect location when I’m hanging out with friends in Santa Monica. Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale Cost: $174.98 Room Type: Presidential Suite (Upgrade) A quick one night stay over in Glendale to complete my weekend in LA. I had originally booked a single king room and even completed e-check in via the @hiltonhonors app. An upgrade like this was the last thing on my mind at check in. When we went down for breakfast, that was covered due to our diamond status, the first question we were asked was “do you work for Apple.” Unfortunately, we don’t but this is obviously a popular hotel for #apple and their guests. My breakfast of sausage, egg and cheese croissant with hash browns was as good as it looked. The binary 0’s and 1’s above the windows certainly fit the area and of course the business center had an iMac. Juniper Cupertino a Curio Hotel – Cupertino, CA Room Rate: $142.88 Room Type: King Bed Deluxe(upgrade) We got this hotel for an absolute steal at $150 a night for our two-night stay. Located just down the road from Apple’s campus and in the heart of America’s tech HQ. I was quite excited to add another Curio to my list of Hilton’s. After our last stay in Houston’s Curio I knew this would be a totally different aesthetic and experience. First let’s talk about the room. We were upgraded to a King Deluxe room with a mountain view. The haze you see in the photos is from the wild fires that were raging at the time. The furnishes were unique and the color pallet was certainly something more than adventurous than your typical #Hilton property. DoubleTree San Antonio Downtown Cost: $155.09 Room Type: Junior Suite(Upgrade) A quick trip to San Antonio and a one night stay in the #doubletree near downtown. Not quite walking distance to the river walk but a very short #uber ride away. At check in we were informed that we had been upgraded to a junior suite on the honors floor, a pleasant surprise. The room was, as the pictures show, very spread out. Furnishings lined the periphery with a bit of a chasm left in the middle of the room. Updated fixtures(with all the right plugs) flanked both side of the king size bed. The lobby of the hotel area was quite large and surrounded a pool. This hotel is certainly set up for families and the made-to-order breakfast was excellent. One of the other perks of being in San Antonio, excellent Mexican food. Hampton Inn & Suites Reno Cost: $140.54 Room Type: King Bed Studio Suite with Whirlpool We’ve stayed in other “whirlpool suites” before but this was the largest Hampton Inn Hotel room I’ve ever seen. I was pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded from a standard king to this studio suite. As you walk in the room you have a wet bar with microwave, sink and refrigerator. The best part is that it’s neatly tucked away from the main sleeping area, so no refrigerator hum at night. The studio suite had a large loveseat and a very well-designed desk, usable from both sides with a decent-sized flat screen TV. The bed was your standard Hampton king with standard pillows that left something to be desired. I would certainly replace the pillows as we both woke up with stiff necks the next morning. The “whirlpool” was not the usual #Jacuzzi you think of in normal Hampton suites as it was a normal size tub with jets. Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Cost: $187.14 Room Type: King Suite In town for a #tampabaylightning game we couldn’t stay any closer to the arena. Located just two blocks away from the #ameliearena the #EmbassySuites was full of hockey fans, from both Tampa and Minnesota. We had a corner room on the 20th floor facing the arena, which was also the top floor. Our room was large with a generous seating area complete with a wet bar, seating for four, a love seat and a nice sized television. The king bedroom had plenty of room to spread out and offered views of our destination for the evening. The bathroom was well-appointed and fit the brand with again, lots of space. Our welcome bag contained an extremely generous spread, two waters, microwave popcorn, snickers bar and pretzels. The Club at Sea - Sea-Tac International Airport Terminal S - Free Access with #priortypass membership through my #chasesapphirereserve card During a layover in Seattle I had early access to “The Club at SEA” in deltas international concourse. Being the only person in the lounge I had free access to take photos, something I’m still working on in crowds. Often this terminal is quite busy with several wide body planes taking off for various destinations across Asia so the lounge is a welcomed respite from the crowds. Magnolia Twin Cities - Dallas, Texas Cost: $175.78 Room Type: Standard Double Queen Located directly across from the main campus of Southern Methodist University #SMU the Magnolia Hotel is ideal for anyone with activities on campus and is quite the popular choice for opposing teams. During our 3 day stay we saw at least 4 teams from the American Athletic Conference staying in the hotel. With very modern touches, especially the LED lit exterior, the Magnolia Hotel reminded me of a Hilton Curio hotel. This boutique hotel checked all the boxes, except for fast wifi. Hilton Garden Inn - Frisco, Texas Cost: $98.90 Room Type: King Bed Standard The third hotel in our Dallas weekend is another Hilton property that we knew quite well but had never stayed in before. We used to live a few steps away for two years during my time working in Frisco. So on our final night in Dallas we wanted to stay in a familiar area and see some of our favorite spots in the city. At under $100, this hotel was absolutely perfect for a weekend night. Things may be a but different for stays during the week in this business centre for the DFW area. Like most things in Frisco, this is a relatively new hotel and built for the business traveler in mind. Overall I would recommend a return visit to this hotel should be staying in the galleria area of dallas. Price was right for business travel and the amenities were very comfortable.
