Art historian and prolific author Judith Wilson (b. 1952) donated her papers to the Archives in 2012. Her papers contain her research notes, interviews, and correspondence files, featuring an impressive roster of feminist and African American scholars and artists of the twentieth century.

These postcards from artist Ana Mendieta to Judith Wilson are currently on view in our exhibition, Expanding the Legacy: New Collections on African American Art, on view through March 21.

We are pleased to announce the acquisition of the papers of photographer Mary Swift (b. 1924). Swift was a founding editor and photographer of the Washington Review (1975-2001). Thousands of her photographs provide a detailed record of Washington D.C.'s prominent art figures, such as William Christenberry, Gene Davis, Rockne Krebs, Walter Hopps, Kevin MacDonald, Tom Nakashima, Richard Powell, Martin Puryear, and Renee Stout.
