I hate any drama and all sorts of conflict and that experience of placidly floating through pleasant fanfic should be open to everyone no matter their race and ethnicity. Everyone has the right to just like intertube their way through fandom without fannish places acting like their mother was killed by not saying a slur and they won't make the same mistake. It sucks that requests for respect are being treated like attacks when the request shouldn't even have to happen in the first place. The best of luck with the protest. Every request is well thought out, and really simple and elegant as solutions in a really beautiful way.
The folks who organized and thought out the protest hardly need a random person to give in their two cents, but I don't doubt you're getting a lot of nasty stuff in your inbox, so I thought I would put the thought forward anyway. What you're doing is really cool and uplifting. You took a problem that a lot of people have either made or been fooled into thinking is super complex and simplified it down. Like "the bad actor racists won't mark their fic as racist" concern has been answered elegantly with: good, it's helpful that they told on themselves so they're easier to report. You're awesome! All the best! Don't give up the good fight!
Thank you so much! Your support means so much to us!

Is there any chance you can go and see a physiotherapist? Maybe you have a friend who is one or something? Anything? Either way, I really hope you feel better soon! So much suck :(
I work with a bunch of occupational therapists, but no one dares recommend anything until I have a diagnosis. PT/OT could make it worse if it’s a rotator cuff tear as opposed to something else. Hopefully Wednesday I’ll get some answers and can start fixing whatever is wrong. I’ve had PT on my shoulder before, and I don’t look forward to doing it again; it’s literal torture. But so is living with it every day, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had something similar going on recently. Turns out to have been a spastic/inflammed teres minor which was *agonizing* to work on, but doing so really did help. Maybe see if you can find a massage therapist that specializes in trigger point therapy? Just other possibility. Hope you feel better soon!
That would be good! An inflammed muscle I can deal with. I’m not a huge fan of strangers putting their hands on me, but if that’s what it is, and massage is a cure, I might try it lol.

I agree with kholly. The NP at my doctor's office always assumed I didn't know the numbered pain scale. If I said it was a 7 she thought it was a 4.
Ugh. What is wrong with people?!?!? :((((( That’s so cruel of them. Hopefully you’re not still living with a 7.

As much as it sucks, if you get the same PA, play your pain up. Don't do the detailed 'I woke up crying' with a straight face because all he's going to see is the face. Some practitioners don't seem to grasp that women have higher tolerance to pain and they just think we're sensitive and therefore moaning for nothing. And be sure to say what happened last time. Refuse to get out until he agrees to find the problem.
Yeah, I’m not going to leave the room until I get an answer, or a path to an answer. I’m not down with undiagnosed, chronic pain.

This reminds me of a women ignored at the ER medical horror stories post that was making the rounds again recently. Not to scare you, but to say make noise at the doctors office. Push back, don't let the PA write you off.
It doesn’t scare me. I don’t take great care of myself and I am not terribly body aware, so I’m sure some day I’m just gonna drop dead of heart failure or cancer or something. The painful stuff will usually drive me to a doc though, lol.

I'm so sorry, feel better soon!
Thank you! I’m trying <3

*hugs gently* I hope it gets better and that the PA doesn't dismiss you again! :(
Thanks, me too! <3

Is it just one shoulder, or both? If just one, google "Frozen Shoulder" and see if your symptoms match. Very common in women over 40...
Just one. And holy crap! That would make total sense! Wow, what a relief that it might be something simple and curable without surgery.

oh! What a lovely costume! A classic!
Have a lil' treat! ^_^
And as I've been doing for my other Trick or Treat posts today, a small excerpt of the next Mercy of the Fallen chapter. (snippet no. 12)
“All right. You figure out what questions you wanted to ask first, then?” And. Well. It’s at the forefront of his mind right now, even if it’s not exactly why he rushed here. “Why you? I get why it was ordered, but why would your brother ask you? Why did you do it?” She asks him to sit, so he does. He doesn’t think any of this will turn into a fight - and he’d normally say, against an apparent civilian, that he’d win even if it did while he was seated. But he’s not going to underestimate whatever weird tricks she might have up her sleeve. Not after she apparently killed the unkillable. But. It’s her home ground, and he was invited, even if it was rather circuitous and unusually friendly, all things considered. From what was said the other night, it’s clear that she’s more than comfortable around ghosts, too. Around the Dead. Jasmine-Mercy doesn’t know Jason Todd at all, but she’s already heard some of his deepest pain. And she’s just treating him like. Another person. That’s almost unheard of, especially outside of the larger Cape Community. So he sits, and she starts to explain.
