Is there any chance you can go and see a physiotherapist? Maybe you have a friend who is one or something? Anything? Either way, I really hope you feel better soon! So much suck :(
I work with a bunch of occupational therapists, but no one dares recommend anything until I have a diagnosis. PT/OT could make it worse if it’s a rotator cuff tear as opposed to something else. Hopefully Wednesday I’ll get some answers and can start fixing whatever is wrong. I’ve had PT on my shoulder before, and I don’t look forward to doing it again; it’s literal torture. But so is living with it every day, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had something similar going on recently. Turns out to have been a spastic/inflammed teres minor which was *agonizing* to work on, but doing so really did help. Maybe see if you can find a massage therapist that specializes in trigger point therapy? Just other possibility. Hope you feel better soon!
That would be good! An inflammed muscle I can deal with. I’m not a huge fan of strangers putting their hands on me, but if that’s what it is, and massage is a cure, I might try it lol.

I agree with kholly. The NP at my doctor's office always assumed I didn't know the numbered pain scale. If I said it was a 7 she thought it was a 4.
Ugh. What is wrong with people?!?!? :((((( That’s so cruel of them. Hopefully you’re not still living with a 7.

As much as it sucks, if you get the same PA, play your pain up. Don't do the detailed 'I woke up crying' with a straight face because all he's going to see is the face. Some practitioners don't seem to grasp that women have higher tolerance to pain and they just think we're sensitive and therefore moaning for nothing. And be sure to say what happened last time. Refuse to get out until he agrees to find the problem.
Yeah, I’m not going to leave the room until I get an answer, or a path to an answer. I’m not down with undiagnosed, chronic pain.

This reminds me of a women ignored at the ER medical horror stories post that was making the rounds again recently. Not to scare you, but to say make noise at the doctors office. Push back, don't let the PA write you off.
It doesn’t scare me. I don’t take great care of myself and I am not terribly body aware, so I’m sure some day I’m just gonna drop dead of heart failure or cancer or something. The painful stuff will usually drive me to a doc though, lol.

I'm so sorry, feel better soon!

*hugs gently* I hope it gets better and that the PA doesn't dismiss you again! :(

Is it just one shoulder, or both? If just one, google "Frozen Shoulder" and see if your symptoms match. Very common in women over 40...
Just one. And holy crap! That would make total sense! Wow, what a relief that it might be something simple and curable without surgery.
