Archroma brings super systems+ solutions to the global denim community
Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, is bringing its new SUPER SYSTEMS+ concept and key denim innovations to Denim Première Vision Milan on June 5 and 6 and Denimsandjeans Vietnam on June 26 and 27.
From classic blue jeans to fashion-forward designs with fresh cuts, colors, and finishes, denim remains one of the most popular fabrics worldwide. At the same time, the industry is beginning to question traditional production methods that use considerable water and energy and also have limitations in terms of the selection of chemicals and dyes that are clean and safe.
“Guided by our ‘PLANET CONSCIOUS+’ vision of innovation and partnership, Archroma is committed to leading the change for denim brands and mills worldwide. We consistently challenge the status quo to develop solutions that not only set trends in fashion, but that can be cleaner and more sustainable too,” Umberto De Vita, Market Segment Director for Denim, Archroma Textile Effects, said.
Archroma will demonstrate an array of breakthrough solutions at Denim Première Vision Milan and Denimsandjeans Vietnam, including SUPER SYSTEMS+ for Denim. SUPER SYSTEMS+ are powerful end-to-end systems developed by Archroma to allow brands and mills to make an impact by saving resources, delivering more durable apparel adopting cleaner chemistries, or choosing enhanced outcomes in all three areas at once. The suite encompasses wet processing solutions from sizing to finishing; durable colors and functional effects that add value; and cleaner chemistries that go beyond compliance to anticipate future restrictions.
Trade show visitors will also be able to explore Archroma’s new DENIM HALO, a user-friendly and easy washable denim, as well as a range of other product innovations, such as DIRESUL EVOLUTION BLACK, DENISOL PURE INDIGO 30 and EarthColors.
DIRESUL EVOLUTION BLACK is Archroma’s cleanest sulfur black dyestuff. Manufactured using fewer resources, it has an overall impact reduction of 57% during dye synthesis compared to standard Sulfur Black 1 liquid.* Importantly, it also offers mills the opportunity to deliver unique shade and wash-down effects that stand out in the market.
DENISOL PURE INDIGO 30 LIQ is an aniline-free** pre-reduced indigo that creates an authentic denim look with the same performance and efficiency as conventional indigo dye, but in a way that can reduce the risk of pollution. Furthermore, it is produced in an aniline-free process to help enable cleaner denim production.
EarthColors is a patented Archroma technology that creates high-performance biowaste-based dyes from non-edible food and agricultural waste, leaving the edible part available for consumption. EarthColors dyes are fully traceable and help reduce the industry’s overall impact on the water footprint. Since they upcycle waste from other industries, they also help contribute to a circular economy.

Archroma introduces highly sustainable durable water repellent for outerwear and apparel fabrics that is softer and more durable
Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, has introduced a new bio-based durable water repellent (DWR) finish that helps mills and brands produce apparel that is soft to the touch and yet offers robust rain and stain protection and an improved sustainability profile.
PHOBOTEX NTR-50 LIQ is designed to provide excellent water repellence on all kinds of fibers while achieving a very soft handle and avoiding undesired effects like yellowing and chalk marking. It performs especially well on synthetic fibers and their blends, making it ideal for apparel, outdoor wear, and home textiles.
The new DWR is based on 50% renewable carbon content based on ASTM D6866 and is free of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and formaldehyde. It is also crosslinker-free, which makes it more flexible in use. While offering good wash durability on its own, PHOBOTEX NTR-50 LIQ can be combined with a crosslinker like ARKOPHOB NTR-40, which has a biocarbon content of 40%, to further boost wash and/or dry-cleaning resistance.
“Archroma is dedicated to leading the fashion and textile industry to a more sustainable future through a focus on ‘Planet Conscious’ innovation,” Georg Lang, Market Segment Director Finishing, Archroma Textile Effects, said. “With our new PHOBOTEX NTR-50 LIQ, we have used renewable feedstock to create a best-in-class DWR that is both cost-efficient and delivers a softer hand feel than comparable products. This makes it possible for brands to offer consumers the excellent rain, splash, and stain protection they expect, but in fabrics that are more comfortable to wear as well as less likely to tear.”
PHOBOTEX NTR-50 LIQ also has excellent runnability, which ensures reproducible performance and high production safety, even at elevated temperatures. It is helpful for mills seeking to solve challenges like running issues, such as roller build-up, and strong chalk marking or harsh handles.
Sportswear, fashion, and home textiles treated with the PHOBOTEX NTR-50 LIQ durable water repellent qualify for the High IQ Repel assurance program. The High IQ program assures consumers that these products deliver performance, protection, and comfort and meet strict environmental standards.
Archroma and DMIx collaborate to inspire fashion’s digital workflow with more color and sustainability
Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals focused on sustainable solutions, and ColorDigital GmbH, the company behind DMIx, a pioneer in textile supply chain digitalization, are joining forces to bring the textile industry’s largest library of engineered color standards to the DMIx ecosystem of fashion brands and suppliers.
All 5,760 color references in the Color Atlas by Archroma will be integrated into ColorDigital’s DMIx interactive collaboration platform, enabling brands to embrace almost unlimited color creativity with an assurance of color precision. Based on digital twin technology, the DMIx solution ensures that color choices are aligned across design, sourcing and production, reducing sampling costs and collection development time as well as improving color accuracy and end-product quality. In short, DMIx marks a significant step forward in enhancing color management processes for both digital product creation (DPC) and physical production.
Sustainability is an essential factor for both Archroma and DMIx. Colors in the Archroma Color Atlas are formulated to comply with leading eco-standards while also delivering consistent and accurate color reproduction. This complements the DMIx ImpAct approach, which provides data on the environmental impact of raw materials to enable brands to select inputs that meet their sustainability targets.
“Archroma takes a ‘Planet Conscious’ approach to color. Like DMIx, we want to empower designers to make sustainable choices from color inspiration to execution. That’s why we build achievability criteria into our colors standards, considering eco-compliance, fastness performance, color consistency and resource efficiency, and why we offer global technical support,” Chris Hipps, Global Head of Archroma Color Management, said.
Gerd Willschütz, COO and Co-Founder of ColorDigital, said: “Strategic color management can transform textile and fashion businesses and drive commercial success. We are delighted to collaborate with Archroma to help make color development and production more creative, efficient and accurate, and more environmentally responsible too.”
A new feature on the DMIx platform is DMIx eXcite, an inspirational material and color-trend hub that uses interactive moodboards to share new color and material scenarios ahead of each season. Designers and colorists will be able to directly use colors presented in the eXcite trend reports, including colors from the Color Atlas by Archroma, across the DMIx color and 3D technology tools.
The Color Atlas by Archroma is part of the Archroma Color Management+ design and development solution for more sustainable textiles and fashion through fast color selection and creation, consistent and accurate color reproduction, and reduced environmental impact.
