Galinda was her best friend, and Fiyero was wonderful to her. She shouldn’t feel envy. And yet…

Posted a new one-shot today! Waiting in the Dark on AO3

This was part of a challenge to write a Wicked fic where the first line included, "Please, don't turn on the light." Naturally, I had to turn it into a Gelphie sickfic (if you're surprised by that, hi, welcome, you must be new here). Check out all of the works in the collection here!

Excerpt:

Galinda moved towards the light switch, hoping to get a clearer view of whatever creature had intruded into her space, but she was stopped by a low, gravelly voice, “Don’t turn on the light. Please. Don’t.” Elphaba? Galinda blinked slowly, letting her eyes focus in the low-light environment, and the image of gangly green limbs poking out of black clothing came into view. It was Elphaba. Galinda’s confident, argumentative roommate was curled up and pressing her face against the tiles of the bathroom floor.

Excerpt:

This is fine, Galinda continually repeated in her head. Everything was fine. With each new upsetting event, she took a few deep breaths, reminded herself that this was a minor problem, and that she could make it through disappointments. It helped that Elphaba was ever-present at her side and would occasionally reach over and squeeze her hand when the frustration started to edge into genuine panic. Galinda wasn’t sure if she was doing a worse job at maintaining her mask than usual, or if Elphaba somehow just knew when she was panicking.

I hope everyone enjoys reading and that it was worth the wait. I don't intend to make folks wait that long again.

Aww, thank you so much! I’m so glad you like my fics. It really never ceases to amaze me that some people enjoy the fact that my brain is filled with sick Gelphie thoughts 24/7. 😅

@into-fiction apparently you’re my co-captain. 😆 Sounds much nicer than partner in crimes against Glinda.

There is Gliyero in this chapter but it is...not going excellently to say the least. (This is a Gelphie fic, for anyone who is new here.) An excerpt from this chapter:

She had caught herself slipping with Fiyero recently. Letting herself be a little too authentic, a little bit too much the person she allowed herself to be in the confines of her dorm room with Elphaba. He made her comfortable, something she had never felt with any of her suitors before, and that made it easy to slip. Fiyero was just such a wonderful friend, sometimes she forgot he was also her boyfriend. She wasn’t supposed to behave with him the way she would with a friend; she needed to maintain higher standards for a romantic interest.

The first chapter of my chronically ill Galinda fic has been posted! I'm excited about this story because I see a lot of directions it could go. (All roads lead to Gelphie love, though, obviously.)
