The struggle is real my fishes... I haven't drawn anything for myself in so long. I have trained myself to hate my work. I am never good enough and the art I create only reminds me of my "failings" and it makes me not even want to try. I talked about some of this in a recent Patreon PODcast and I honestly feel pretty vulnerable bringing it up now... I do feel it's important to share though. We are all on our own journeys. People will comment on your work and you will create your own mental obstacles along the way.
I am trying to unlearn all of my bad habits and mental self talk when it comes to my art. I used to love to draw. I would draw all day, every day. It was all I ever wanted to do until I let a few people and their actions/comments get in my head.
If you are struggling with something like this when it comes to any aspect of your life, I want to urge you to take a step back NOW. Don't let it fester and build up until you reach a point of seemingly no return. Especially if it's related to your work. Communicate how you are feeling, even if it is just to your journal or notebook. LET IT OUT.
You are an artist and you are here to create YOUR own magic and don't you ever forget it. ♥
