He’s standing in front of the rubble that used to be the chapel’s altar. He’s spent so much time there. Byleth’s not sure what he’s doing, if he’s praying or thinking or just existing...

Though he’s found around the monastery more often since their talk following Gronder and... Rodrigue, sometimes he still winds up here.

Maybe he’s just remembering.

“Dimitri,” she greets gently as she walks up to him. She doesn’t touch him, bet she stands at his shoulder. “Have you eaten yet?”

She hadn’t seen him at lunch, but she may have just missed him.

the  question  is  innocent  ;  he  cannot  possibly  know  the  nature  of  dimitiri’s  ailments .  on  one  hand ,  he’s  aware  that  his  input  is  probably  not  desired  or  invited  ;  dimitri  is  a  crown  prince ,  and  cyril  is  ...  a  servant .  from  almyra .    ❛   he  usually  says  he  wants  you  to  rest ,  when  that  happens ,  right  ?  i  mean ,  i  don’t  think  it’s  bad  to  work  hard ,  but  it’s  not  as  if  you’re  doing  odd  jobs ,  like  me .  you’re  gonna  be  in  charge  of  all  of  them ,  and  they’re  worried  about  you .  you  should  take  it  easy  for  them ,  i  guess .  if  they  lose  ya ,  it’d  be  worse .   ❜

⚜ ; —–  [ ᴠ ᴀ ʟ ᴏ ʀ  ʜ ᴇ ᴀ ʀ ᴛ ] —–     HAD BEEN WORN long before anybody else had been here -- had SEEN && DONE things many of this world did not know he had done in such a short period of his life. Was only NATURAL that he often steered clear of many. ( he was tired ! ) Could not WASH the blood on hands no matter how many good deeds had been done ( had saved own land from reign of terror ! had that been enough ? ). Only WISHED to be reunited with one that he had come to care about, but by the cruel twist of fate, the gods had said NO ( not yet ! ). Since coming here, it seemed to only WORSEN for him; that overwhelming feeling of guilt seemed to gnaw on him like dog to a bone.

—– ;     SPOKEN words of the other resonated within. May have been WORLDS apart in experiences && in events, though the sentiments could not have been able to RING more true. Was MOVED by them -- well, enough to ACKNOWLEDGE the other by glancing over at the very least. Took only seconds for the Hylian to move over on the bench for the blond to sit if he so desired. Was the mess hall after all, he could havd sat anywhere he desired. Was not entirely sure, though, as to why anybody would APPROACH him to sit beside. Was never one for small talk after all ( or just talk in general ), but did not MIND the company for now.

—– ;     STRUGGLED to find words for him ( the problem of different languages ), but did not wish to come of so ABBRASIVE this time. Should have been cold, standoffish! , towards him, but it was hard to do when he seemed to hit precise mark on him. UNSETTLED with fact that somebody had bypassed his walls to hit so hard && close to home. ( it was a mere comment ! ) Could only look DOWN at the sentiment. Expression was PAINED ----- sad even!  Had SEEN so much / had DONE so much. Didn’t think pain was the best term for it. No, this was TORTURE. Dared not to look other in the eye as he finally spoke weakly.

            she’s not sure how to respond to such a heavy comment  ;  though  ,  she understands the sentiment  .  in a world as such  ,  people only cared for themselves and it was hard to garner sympathy or hard to share a good moment with others  .  not to say  all strangers were so self — centered  ,  but most of them are  .            “  everyone is always in such a rush  ,  stuck inside their own heads that they rarely take the time to celebrate the small things  ,  even with strangers  ,  ”  eliana comments  ,  “  but perhaps  ,  it is just a test to see how you would react to being brushed off  .  ”  she offers  ,  lame advice  .  especially coming from someone who didn’t heavily believe in the goddess  .             “  but there are people out there that will share this joy  ,  strangers or not  .  ”  eliana continues  ,  hoping to sooth the other  .  “  you needn’t give your attention to those that don’t care  ,  it’s a waste of energy to do so  .  ”  she concludes  .  was she giving solid advice  ?? not really  .  even though she’s a people’s person  ,  she’s not good when it comes to giving advice about interacting with people  .

cyril  talks  to  the  horses .  whenever  he  cares  for  them  or  cleans  the  stables ,  the  horses  are  the  ones  who  hear  how  his  day  went ,  or  his  honest  opinions  about  people .  he’s  also  named  most  of  them ,  so  long  as  they’re  not  owned  by  someone  already .  as  a  result ,  he’s  incredibly  good  at  quieting  and  handling  even  the  most  troublesome  mounts .

as  for  talents  …  cyril  has  an  astounding  memory .  he  can  remember  details  of  things  he’s  seen  months  ago .  this  is  perhaps  because  he  isn’t  able  to  write  things  down ,  so  he’s  had  to  build  this  skill  for  his  own  good .
