How I feel about this character: i'm claude's right hand arm. man. i'm claude everything. his best friend. his confidant. his silly rabbit
All the people I ship romantically with this character: byleth!!!!!! this couple has implanted into my brain and ruined me <3 also leonie, annette, petra (sometimes), edelgard
My non-romantic OTP for this character: claude and ignatz brothers in arms my FUCKING beloved <3 i know ignatz has actual brothers. but he's literally closer to claude as a brother
My unpopular opinion about this character: i prefer only-child claude. i know they gave him a brother in 3 hopes, and i know it is super duper common in fics to have him have a bunch of siblings. but the story about his dad and mom being starcrossed lovers + just a lot of the way he acts makes me prefer him as an only child. i think when he says he has some tenuous claims to the throne, he means both bc of his mixed race heritage, and also bc other branch families or nobles would object to his claim. i don't think its bc he has to fight a bunch of siblings
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish he had supports with seteth. my other unpopular opinion is that claude and seteth actually like each other and have a complicated, but respectable relationship
Hi! It has literally been forever since you asked this, but at this point, is anyone surprised that I’m posting a fic late? (There are so many numbers in my ask box now but I have no idea what they mean...hehehe - this one was pretty easy to remember though!) This is probably more of a drabble, but I feel like all of my fics are. Prose writing is becoming less and less of a strong suit for me. Anyway, enjoy! (tagging @suits-of-woe because I’m obsessed with Henry and Margaret and I feel like we share that)
“Who are you?” the prisoner asked.
“I’m here to rescue you,” Margaret said before catching sight of a figure running to catch them. She quickly raised a blaster to disarm the enemy, leaving the prisoner startled. He appeared to have grown used to the silence over the course of his imprisonment. “You’re Henry, right?”
The man swallowed before remembering to nod. Instead of responding, Margaret knelt down beside Henry and began to untie his restraints.
“It’s alright,” she said, noticing that he was trembling under her touch. “I’m with the Resistance. You have nothing to fear now. I’m going to take you somewhere safe, alright?”
With a shaking voice, Henry responded, “That’s what they said last time,”
“I know,” Margaret said, focusing more on the restraints than on him. “Those people, they aren’t your friends,”
Henry was quiet for a long time after that as Margaret worked the restraints loose, occasionally flinching when she moved something too tight or brushed against his already raw skin. She would mumble a kind of apology, her focus nearly unbreakable. It was no wonder why the Jedi
Council said that the force was strong with her. However, no matter how strong it was in Margaret, it was infinitely stronger in Henry. It made him a desirable ally, but even more irresistible as a source of power, the kind that Edward, George, and Richard Plantagenet would have for themselves. Under normal circumstances, Henry would have had the power to break through his restraints unaided, but imprisonment had left him but a shell of himself. He had no will to break through anything.
“Meg,” a voice distracted her from her work. It was Somerset, looking rather attractive despite the cut to his upper lip and the blood on his temple. He leaned on the doorframe, his arm extended to grip the top. “We’ve got to go. Can he keep up?”
“What does that matter? You heard our orders. No matter if he can keep up or not, we’ll have to find a way to get him out of here,” she said, finally getting the last bit of restraint loose. Henry stood there, dazed, unmoving. It was as though he had no concept of what freedom had felt like, or that he had lost contact with Margaret entirely.
Somerset turned and made quick work with his blaster upon hearing more droids march their way, though he suddenly fell against the doorframe holding his thigh. Pulling his hand away, Margaret saw that he had been grazed. Without a second thought, she turned back to Henry and took a hold of his hand.
“Do you trust me?” she asked.
Henry had no time to respond before she slung him over on her back. It was likely that he had not eaten in several days and was far too weak to make it far on his own at this point. Margaret understood that as much as Henry was willing to trust others, she had to work for it now. She moved past Somerset and said without looking down,
“Cover me,”
The injured man looked up and grunted before hauling himself up on his feet.
“Are you crazy?” he asked. “You’re going to get us all killed,”
“It has to be this way,” Margaret said, continuing to move despite the dead weight on her back. He was light, and she felt sorry for him. “I said cover me. We can get back to the dock through this hallway. It won’t be far. He needs medical attention and so do you,”
I'm gonna be real predictable and ask you about an AU where Anne and Constance meet?
That is an amazing AU and if you didn't ask for it honestly I'd worry about you Arden you haven't touched your Breton duchesses but no need since you have ;)
1. They definitely can relate to each other on a lot of things-- they both became dugez breizh when they were very young, they've both lost close family including husbands, and they both know the burden of their responsibilities so they could commiserate and support each other. HOWEVER they also have happy things they can relate to each other on, like their kids and how much they love their country.
2. Claude and Renée play with Eleanor, Arthur, Alix, and Catherine and their moms are so happy to see their kids making friends.
3. Constance is...... very interested in the fact that one of her descendents became Queen of France. (Also I just realized how weird this is because Anne was a descendent of Alix) She's glad to know the duchy was in good hands though. Anne is honored to meet someone so respected in breton history, so they're just like. You are so cool. Back and forth.
4. They're also really interested in the differences between their time periods and how their culture has changed or stayed the same. They definitely go on some kind of tour of Brittany, whether it be the Tro Breizh or just visiting a few towns and the coast.
5. They go to a Tri Yann concert. Constance cries when they do "Arthur Plantagenest," but they're happy tears because THEY REMEMBER HER SON. Anne is honored that they have a song about her too (even if it might be a little morbid it's centered around her literal heart).
BONUS: While on their tour they go to the zoo and of course take tons of pictures of the ermines. Anne texts Louis a photo of a porcupine saying "C'est toi." Constance finds an animal for Guy too. The kids get lost exploring (but are found in time for lunch). Everyone is happy.
🕰 What do I think this character enjoys doing in their free time?
The 1995 Oliver Parker movie adaptation showed her dancing. Also, i like imagining that she likes hearing and reading adventure stories (it was Othello’s epic war tales that made she fall in love with him after all) and when she arrived in Cyprus she learned to enjoy the beach: walking in the sand, collecting shells, sometimes swiming or only puttingher feat in the water, entering in a bot with Othello and Emilia to fish and them setting the fishes free. And she probably learned how to spin a wheel and embroil, wich was part of the common education received by noble ladies at the time.
🌕 Happy Headcanon?
Her father gaved her a sheltered creation, of wich she started to break free by taking disguises and masks to go see the Venecian Street Carnaval without him knowing. When Desdemona and Othello started to fall in love with one another, she tooked him with her to see one of those street Carnaval parties, to show him her world and what she found beautifull in it.
I’m tempted to just respond with heart and crying emojis but that’s not really an answer.
My favorite scene in the canon! I was already in love with Shakespeare when I read this, having read Richard III, but I was blown away by Richard’s lines in his final speech in this scene. Shakespeare says some shit that’s deeply personal for me better than I could ever say it. And some of the things Henry says hurt to read ngl. I’ve had some of the same negative thoughts about myself many times.
I picture Richard coming in barely able to contain his excitement and then being emotionally devastated, barely (if at all) holding it together before hardening his resolve in the last third of his speech. I’ve never seen this in performance though. Let Richard cry. I don’t like it when he’s angry (without any other emotion), stoic, or joyful after killing Henry. Vindictive maybe, at least at first, and like he still wants to prove something to him but can’t now. I’d very much like to just do it myself one of these days. Actually I think what immediately drew me to this scene is that it reminds me of a manga I really like where one of the protagonists is an assassin whose targets always pick on him until he cries and then he goes berserk and kills them. So that’s lowkey what I’m picturing (I’ll give people the name of the manga if they want it but I tend not to recommend it to people because there’s a lot of sex and violence in it.)
But essentially 5.6 captures the reason I’ll always love Shakespeare: in four lines he made space for me in his world, which is something I feel so many authors fail to do.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
he can’t cook worth anything and he’s bad at math
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
something broke inside him after cassius and porcia died like he didn’t eat and he barely slept and there was all this stress weighing down on him and it was just. a lot.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
in my au where he lives he’s still depressed but he’s doin ok and he and cleopatra speak greek to each other sometimes, and he’s working on learning other languages, too
