With my Autumngroves and winterveil Ardryn 100% is standing in the hallway at 5 am (while Amondria is in bed) like "these kids best wake up soon greatfather winter came" because he's so excited for the holiday and wants to see the kids and Amondria open gifts
I was greatly inspired by [this post] by Ratboy-sadboy and wanted to do something with my own characters. top to bottom: Aeria, Amondria, Avivia, Alyanii, Ardryn then Calithilêl breaking the chain of A names. I got so many feels right now.
This was a fun day of Elfebruary! At first I wasn’t sure what to write but then @alynissia suggested Tevryn and I could not be stopped. Tevryn is so fun to write and he is adorable. (Totally not bias) Of course, living in Northrend means he’s always been around snow but what about the first snowfall of winter? Everyone please enjoy my smol mage son
“Nanna hurry uuuup!” Tevryn tugged on his grandmother's hand urging her towards the door. “Hurry up! Hurry up! I wanna go outside!” He let go of her hand to press his face against the window to watch the snow fall down. The first snow of winter and he wasn't outside yet!
“I'm going as fast as I can, Little Sunbeam. I'm old it takes me a while to get my shoes on.” Amondria said to her excited young grandson. “You don't even have your hat and gloves on yet. You're not even ready to go outside.” She teased playfully.
Tevryn crossed his arms. “I am a fire mage, Nanna. Just like Ann'da and I don't get cold.” Even saying this he knew he wouldn't be going anywhere near the snow without his hat and gloves.
“The cutest fire mage there is. Who would look even more cute in his hat and gloves.” Amondria said standing up to help Tevryn bundle up. “What are you going to do first when you get out in the snow? Snowman? Make snow angels?” Amondria asked. There would even be enough snow to make a hill to slide down if he wanted.
“Snowman!” Tevryn answered excitedly. “Will you help me make a snowman, please?”
“Of course sweatheart.” Amondria smiled at him. All she could see around all his warm clothes was a big pair a glowing white eyes and the ends of his messy black hair. “Okay. Get ready for the snoooow” She said in a sing-song voice as she opened the door letting in a blast of cold air.
Tevryn was outside and already running through the backyard before Amondria was even outside. He scooped up a handful of snow and tossed it into the air. “Nanna! Nanna! Look I'm a frost mage now!” He giggled then immediately set to work on his snowman.
“You're just the cutest mage ever.” She replied as she started to help him with the snowman. The first snowfall of the season was always the most exciting. The little ones couldn't wait to get outside and spend far too long playing in the cold. She earned a loud giggle when she used her Death Knight magic to swirl some of the snow in her hand before packing the snow into the middle of the snowman.
“Nanna this is going to be the best snowman ever. We'll have to show Poppy when we are done.”
“Oh yes, Poppy would love to see our snowman.” Amondria responded. Unfortunately Ardryn was a bit unwell to join them in the snow or he would be out here with them excitedly adding snow to the snowman and showing Tevryn how to catch snowflakes on his tongue.
Tevryn stepped back from the completed snowman after he added the button eyes and carrot nose that is Nanna had brought out. He was very happy their snowman had ears like his. Sin'dorei ones. Their snowman was half Sin'dorei half Kaldorei too. Just like him. “Nanna I'm cold can we show Poppy our snowman then go inside?” He asked.
“Of course Tevryn. Let's go get Poppy.” She took Tevryn's hand and let him back inside where Ardryn already had hot chocolate waiting on the table.
Tevryn drug his grandfather outside once Ardryn had a coat on to show him the snowman, which Ardryn declared the best snowman he had ever seen. Then they went back inside to enjoy their hot chocolate by the warmth of the hearth with Ardryn reading Tevryn's favourite story.
Crap I accidentally deviated slightly again. Today we have Avivia (with a special bonus of worrying Ardryn) setting off to start her adventuring life. This was going to be longer but my phone was on 5% and this was already long. Originally I wanted to get into her meeting up with Vixnaar and them started out together. Note: This takes place sometime in Cataclysm and before they knew Amondria was a Death Knight.
“Do you have everything? Rations? Enough gold? Some clothes? Potions? Your ink and paper with a quill? What about a dagger? Will your cloak be warm enough? Are you sure your armour is fitted well enough?” Ardryn asked in a worried rush. He had about 50 more questions to ask on top of the ones he already asked.
“An'da, An'da. Slow down you'll make yourself need your heart potions at this rate.” Avivia was already reaching for his potions. It wouldn't be the first time he got himself to worked up. “Yes I have everything and what I don't have the Cenarion Circle is providing when I meet with the Elder in Darnassus. Yes I'll be warm enough and yes my armour is fitted perfectly. Ty'lenna made sure of that.” She answered. She was so excited she just wanted to rush out of the door and run down the path to Darnassus!
It was scary though. She'd never been out on her own before besides small adventures in the woods in Shadowglen. She'd never been in a real fight before with something actively trying to hurt her. What if she got herself into too much danger? She was too much like her Min'da after all.
That was why she was getting a traveling companion. Someone to watch her back and she'd watch theirs. Who would she get? A Druid of the Claw like her? Or maybe another Totem? Would they be nice? Or stern? Playful or serious? She hoped she got someone nice that would be playful and joke around when appropriate. She also hoped they would be a Druid of the Claw or at least good at stealth. What if they were trying to sneak by something and the other couldn't stealth by?
Ardryn fretted more. “Are you sure you have enough gold? I can give you more. You need more than you think for meals and renting a room at an inn for when you are in a town.”
“An'da I'm fine. I have to get going I don't want to be late. I have everything and I have enough.” She pulled her bag over her shoulders and tied her dagger to her hip.
“Can An'da walk with you to the edge of town? You know how I worry about my little girl.” Although she wasn't little anymore. A grown woman setting out to forge her own path. Still, he worried.
Avivia hooked one arm in her An'da's and started towards the door. “Do you want to walk all the way to Darnassus with me? It will be a nice walk and the healers told you to get more exercise.”
Ardryn hugged his daughter close and kissed her cheek. “I'd like that. I'm so proud of you, becoming a Druid and going off on your own adventures. You're Min'da would be proud of you. You're strong like her.”
Avivia looked to the ground as they walked. “I wish Min'da could be here. She would have loved helping me get armour and a travel bag.” If only Min'da was here to walk with them to Darnassus.
“She was nervous when she first went off somewhere with the Sentinels. She would never admit it but she was. She broke links on her armour trying to make sure it looked perfect.” Ardryn shared.
---
The two talked more as they walked to Darnassus together, once they arrived Avivia hugged her An'da tightly. “Okay, I have to go meet up with the Druid Elder now. I need to do that on my own. I love you An'da. I'll write to you as much as I can. I love you.”
Ardryn ran his hand over Avivia hair. “I love you so much Snowlily. Be safe, if you need anything let me know.” He kissed her forehead and ran a thumb over her face. “Your tattoos are going to start itching, don't scratch at them. Use Silverleaf crushed into clean water to keep it healing properly. Please stay in alliance territory for now, don't do anything too dangerous.”
“An'da, I'll be fine. You're worrying too much. I promise I'll be careful. I have to go.”
With a kiss to his cheek and a tearful goodbye hug Avivia made her way to the Druid Elder to set off on the life of an adventurer. To see Azeroth and help people.
I had a lot of fun with this day of Elfebruary! I went with Amondria and Ardryn because when i started to write for another character this popped in my head and I had to do this. I legit cried while writing because I love these two so much. Amondria and Ardryn are #relationshipgoals. They’ve been through a lot together and still going strong.
Ardryn put the last touches on the gift, making sure the ribbon was perfect. No messy corners on the wrapping. Nothing but the best on a gift for his wonderful life-bound. He had commissioned this to be made over a year ago and was beyond excited to finally have it. The jewelcrafter was an exceptionally talented young Pandaren living in Stormwind.
“Alor'el!” He called to his life-bound in the other room. Himself and Amondria had been together since they were children. Best friends for years before becoming lovers. He adored her and not too often did he get to spoil her.
Amondria entered the living room and gave Ardryn a warm smile. “Hey cutie.” She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. “Did you need help with something?” She asked, assuming he needed help in his shop.
Ardryn hugged Amondria back and shook his head, long mossy green hair moving with the motion. “No, I have a surprise for you.” He kissed her cheek and pulled out of the hug, picking up the wrapped box and handing it out to her.
“You got me a gift? Oh dearest it's so beautifully wrapped, thank you.” Amondria leaned in to give Ardryn a quick kiss before opening the present. She was careful with the paper. Ardryn worked hard on wrapping it and she didn't want to just tear into it.
Ardryn set his hand on Amondria's lower back. “I wanted to get you something nice. You deserve it.”
Amondria ran her hands over the jewellery box once the paper was pulled away. It was a fine dark wood box, well polished with a maker's seal in white on the top. “You are such a sweetheart.” She opened the box and gasped at the sight of the necklace inside.
“It's beautiful, oh Ardryn I love it. Thank you.” The necklace was silver with a thin braided chain. In the front two heart shapes touched, one had his name and the other hers. From those two hearts on matching thin braided chains hung five more hearts. Each with the names of one of their children. Aeria, Ithildris, Sanai, Avivia, and even baby Kalaes. Amondria swallowed back tears as she touched the heart with Sanai's name. “It's perfect.”
Ardryn kissed Amondria's cheek then gently took the necklace to put it on for her. “I'm glad you like it. I was going to do just initials but so many would have been just the letter A.” He brushed back her long white hair. “I love you Alor'el.” He said brushing her hair back in place after hooking the necklace. Nothing could stop his love for her. Not even the Lich King taking her from him for so long. She was his Alor'el still. The love of his life.
Amondria wrapped her arms around Ardryn and laid her head on his shoulder. “I love you too.” She squeezed tightly. Even when she spent that time unwillled part of her mind still felt that love. Ardryn would always be the warm safe place she had. The one that made her heart feel too full.
Day two of Elfebruary! Now, the theme was memento but I think I got a bit away from that and more of an heirloom but I feel it still works! This is with my beautiful Kaldorei Avivia who is the love of my life, my sweet child. Also with her dad, Ardryn. Best dad. Loves plants, his wife, and his kids. This is shorter than I would have liked but I’m happy with it!
Avivia ran her hand over the soft leather of the prayer book. It was small and the leather faded. The spine broken and worn to the years. She had been read the book so many times, finding comfort in the prayers and hymns written inside.
“That book has been through so many generations, Snowlily.” Ardryn, her An'da, said as he put his arm around her in a hug. “It's been in my family longer than we can count back.” He added.
Avivia opened it up to the first page. “Your An'da gave it to you, right?” She asked. It was amazing to think of how many of her ancestors held this same book. How many read it to find peace and comfort in the Goddess, the same way she now did?
Ardryn smiled. “Before he passed he gave it to me.” Unfortunately Ardryn's father had gone to the stars far too early. “He gave that to me and told me he loved me. He wanted me to have that prayer book and he told me about his father giving it to him. He also said that one day if I ever had children to pass it on to my youngest.” Ardryn kissed Avivia's head. Truthfully he had a younger child but baby Kalaes had too joined the stars far too early.
Avivia nodded and wiped at her eyes. “Thank you An'da. I will cherish it.” She kissed his cheek.
Avivia ran her fingers over the page. The ink of the words on the first prayer were almost completely faded. “I love you An'da”
It is time for another Kaldorei Headcannon! As some of you may or may not know I headcannon that Darnassian is written right to left, in an almost cursive manner with the letters connecting and just looks all script-like and fancy. But just think about Darnassian calligraphy, how hard that must be too learn and perfect? I imagine its probably a sought after skill for things like writing out prayer books, signs for shops, and pamphlets for the Temples of Elune.
